First and foremost, our Congratulations to Ms. Joanna Wylde for making the “Devil’s Game”  the Romantic Times Magazine Top Pick!

With that said….  we got another HOT one over here!!!!

This is fast-paced… with just the right amount of suspense and action…. lots of humour…  romantic  and extremely hot!

This book will take you to Hunter’s beginning… on how he became a member of the Devil’s Jack and how he ended up kidnapping Picnic’s daughter Em.  (And we all know who Picnic is!).

And then there’s Em, a view of her childhood, growing up as Picnic’s daughter…  her story before and when Hunter, a.k.a. Liam, entered  in the picture.

We highly recommended that you read Reaper’s Legacy before this book, though it’s not necessary.  But if you have read it, then you already had a glimpse of how Em met Liam and her kidnapping…  but this time, read the full version through Em and Hunter’s POV.

And, of course, the aftermath…  knowing they both are from a rival biker club…. and that Picnic will not hesitate to kill Liam…  will that stop Liam from pursuing Em and vice versa? Well…. not if Liam or Em can help it!. 😉

Em’s character is smart, brave, kick-ass, stubborn and just the coolest likeable female lead there is…. and one of the most that we love about Em, is that  she knows and goes after what she wants!


And Liam, well, he defies the odds against them, thus, proving himself worthy. We love his sexy and cool demeanour and how he fought and respects his woman. He is one hot alpha!

Their story is definitely not easy…. but who wants easy?

All in all, we totally loved it!!!!  It is well written… and it has everything a biker romance book should have : there is  action, that nail-biting suspense, humour, just enough angst and of course, it’s totally hot!.  😉

AND….  guess who the next story is gonna be? Picnic!!! OMG!!! That little preview of Picnic’s story in the end, what a tease!!!! WE CANT WAIT!

This is me after finishing this first part of the series ..


I want to specify that when I say disturbing and shocking, I mean it in a non-graphic violent way, but more on the event happening in general.

This definitely left a bitter taste in my mouth…. like, I can’t believe just how stupid…. ugh!!! I am shock… devastated.


But this could really happen, so we’re talking a close to reality story…. the abuse, the consequences, those elite snobs that thinks they are way better than everyone else and they can’t do anything wrong, ugh….

I just really could not understand the why’s… I wished Evie, the lead female character, listened to Zeke, the lead male character. I am so confused and frustrated right now.


My heart breaks for Zeke, look what doing the right thing would get you! Not the right kind of message we want to put out, but it is happening….sigh…

This is one of those that I can’t say anything about the plot cause then it might just lead to a complete spoiler.

I hesitate to read what happens next, not because I find the story bad,……on the contrary, it is most brilliantly written and a quite stirring storyline… but because it kinda scares me to know so what’s next? I really don’t want to hate Evie… and I am feeling so bad for Zeke. While, at the same time, I badly wanna know what’s next for Evie and Zeke.

And may I just add, what a most apt title…. “the things we can’t change”… true enough..

This is one of those series that I kept checking and hoping for the release day… And when that day came, it’s like it’s Christmas!!!  And this, is so worth every wait!!!


I was also so excited when they made this into a movie! Though I have to be honest… I feel like the movie they did not quite do justice with the book, like it’s missing that certain something, but.. I still enjoyed it, just that I love the book more… 😉   I am still hoping that the  2nd movie release would be way way better. 😀

BUT, at this moment, I am on emotional high!!! Call it book hangover… I just can’t believe this is the end… but…..  am I sensing a spinoff?!!! Maybe we won’t have to say goodbye to our favourite characters yet! Maybe…



The story continues with Sebastian creating an even bigger havoc amongst the shadowhunters world…. Where Clary, Jace, Simon, Isabelle, and Alec have to outsmart and defeat Sebastian.

The angst…

“I always thought being a Shadowhunter meant that I had to approve of what the Clave did,” he said. “I thought otherwise I wasn’t loyal. I made excuses for them. I always have. But I feel like whenever we have to fight, we’re fighting a war on two fronts. We fight the enemy and we fight the Clave, too. I don’t—I just don’t know how I feel anymore.” – Alec

The humour…


“So have we DTRed now?” 

Isabelle shrugged. “I have no idea what that means.”

Simon hid the fact that he was inordinately pleased by this. “Are we officially boyfriend and girlfriend? Is there a Shadowhunter ritual? Should I change my Facebook status from ‘it’s complicated’ to ‘in a relationship’?”

Isabelle screwed up her nose adorably. “You have a book that’s also a face?”


The romance…

“I loved you recklessly from the moment I knew you. I never cared about the consequences. I told myself I did, I told myself you wanted me to, and so I tried, but I never did. I wanted you more than I wanted to be good. I wanted you more than I wanted anything, ever.” – Jace

The suspense… the action…. everything was written to perfection! With every character and with every scene that was both fascinating and captivating!!! It’s everything I could ask for and more!

In the end,  I was running with so much emotions…. but then comes another surprise….

let me list my feels

A lot of sigh worthy moments… Alas, I didn’t want it to end.

I am gonna miss our most brave couples… Jace and Clary, Simon and Isabelle… and Magnus and Alec…. I really loved their group dynamic. Their bond of friendship is above and beyond…

I’m even gonna miss the very cunning and evil Sebastian, a most hateful antagonist  that I couldn’t even fully hate!

Impressive! Amazing world building, awesome character growths, and a most fantastic and surprising twists, storyline and ending!

My Inspiration Behind the Characters

I have always loved angst ridden romance ever since the days of ‘My so called life’ and ‘Party of five’. I love the idea of a romance that is doomed to fail despite how much the characters are drawn to each other.
I wanted to create a story where the characters were unable to stay apart but didn’t really like each other. I also don’t like stories where the end is a foregone conclusion and so I like the reader to always guess what will happen next.

My inspiration for Kyle was every bad boy in fiction that I ever read, in my mind he was a lot harsher than I wrote him but it didn’t translate to paper and he became a tortured good guy deep down. I wanted him to be a mixture of Jordan Catalano from ‘My so called life’, Griffin from ‘Party of Five’ and Patrick from ’10 things I hate about you’. Someone who is adored by people but doesn’t require the adoration, who is effortlessly cool but doesn’t need the acceptance.
My inspiration for Sophie was the teenage angst movies that I have enjoyed my whole life. The torture of feeling like you don’t quite fit in and the hardship of realising that your parents aren’t perfect. You realise that your mum can love again and be giddy. You realise that you can get yourself into trouble and don’t have to ask permission for everything. My own teenage experiences and those of my friends were drawn on heavily,
Sophie gets a bad rep in some reviews for being whiny and selfish but really all she is someone who is too scared to just be herself and accept what she wants. She’s a typical teenager who worries more about what everyone else thinks rather than just following her heart.

The British Psyche that causes love to be even more torturous …..

Brits are polite and say sorry a lot,
They keep their feelings bottled up and tied in a knot,
They find it hard to say exactly how they feel,
Keeping emotions hidden well, even as they heal.

Brits often tend to worry what other people think,
Not usually finding it easy to throw caution to the wind.
They need a cup of tea to calm any storm.
They need validation and like to conform.

When it comes to love, Brits find it hard to express,
Exactly how they feel which can leave them in a mess.
It’s hard to win at love if you aren’t prepared to say.
Just how much you feel and I love you every day.

Despite their guarded nature they love strong and deep.
You get loyalty and trust, qualities to keep.
The words are not forthcoming but actions certainly are,
Which speak louder than words and are preferred by far.

Silvana's Review

I’ve been sitting for ages stumped on how to review this book- Not because I don’t have the words, on the contrary I have too many but unfortunately they may spoil the book for any that have not read it yet.

This novel captivated me, completely consumed my thoughts during and hours after I finished it. In the beginning I was reading and trying to guess what’s going on which left me confused and frustrated. At the 40% mark, I decided to stop trying to outsmart the book and just let it reveal all to me.

This was such an enthralling, well written read. You just have to relax and let the book guide you, I had many outlandish theories flying around in my head!


But let me tell you the ending was genius, though I was able to connect a few pieces of the puzzle correctly and get a gist of what’s going on, most of the revelations were astounding and pure brilliance.


At the end I have to add to hell with Gentle and sweet, I want devious, cunning, broken and selfless!

I hear you.
I love you.

4 STARS!!!

I went into reading this with certain expectations and I was not disappointed because the author managed to surpass my expectations. This book took a direction that surprised me as well as  things being revealed that blew my theories away- Let me tell you I loved the unexpected!

Ream was a bit of an asshole in the first book and while I actually like that in my hero, I don’t like one that calls the heroine names and hurts her on  purpose- that’s what he seemed to do in Torn From You.  When I started reading, I  was preparing to do this to Ream


But I ended up wanting to do this


Ream is a complete mystery for most of the book, he kept his emotions and secrets deeply guarded. I thought I could hazard a guess as to what it is he’s hiding, however not all my theories were proven correct. Ream is a hero who is beyond broken!

We start this novel with a determined Ream, vying to win the girl he wants and fighting for his first and real chance at love.

“Second chances are for when you’re done with the first. I wasn’t done. I’ll never be done. I don’t need second chances, beautiful. Not with you. You’re my first chance.”


Kat has her own secrets though they are not as dark as Ream’s but still  painful to learn of. It wasn’t hard to admire Kat as a heroine, she was a strong lady though at the beginning she annoyed me with the stubborn act. When she finally lets Ream in, it’s perfection.

“I belong with you. I belong to you.

As Truths are unveiled, the story becomes more fast paced and towards the end we are hit with dark and shocking twists.

It was awesome to see Logan and Emily again, as well as  two supporting characters who made me smile big whenever they were mentioned or appeared,  Deck and Crisis. At the end of ‘Overwhelmed By You’, we see the potential for a love interest where Crisis is concerned and I CAN’T WAIT. I also am salivating at the fact that Deck will have his own novel, ‘Perfect Chaos’.

Stellar writing, likeable characters, unexpected twists and turns with just the right amount of angst made for a very entertaining read that is ‘Overwhelmed By You’

When I arrived to Edgewood, Wisconsin I didn’t plan to find him. I didn’t plan to stumble into Joe’s bar and have Daniel’s music stir up my emotions. I had no clue that his voice would make my hurts forget their own sorrow. I had no idea that my happiness would remember its own bliss.

5 This Book Is My Golden Stars

This book feels familiar yet foreign, the premise is done before but the author took it and delivered a book that felt fresh and new. It’s a novel about people, their loss, denial, grief, anger, love and forgiveness- It was much more than a romance, to me it was about FAMILY and friendships. So much going on yet never felt once that it took away from the beauty and perfection that is this book.

“Everyone has a golden. It could be anything-a song, a book, a pet, a person. Anything that makes you so happy your insides cry of pure joy. It feels like you’re on drugs but better because it’s a natural high.”

For me this book is my golden, went into reading it with the expectations of getting emotional, but the depth of emotions I went through took me by surprise. I had to take so many breathers and cried ugly tears but I ENJOYED every minute. It will be one for the favorite shelf, a definite reread.

I felt the connection between Daniel and Ashlyn from the moment they met, they had such a powerful chemistry and it never felt forced to me. It was such an easy companionship between the two.

The Supporting characters were amazing in their own way, to use an expression that has been used a lot lately but is just the right one to describe the minor characters, Perfect Imperfections , all had their own demons to overcome- Some drove me to scream and yet loved every single one of them.

I highly recommend this book! It tore my heart out yet I was feeling happy that I took a chance on it, for me it absolutely fulfilled many elements that make an amazing book.
