Book: Daylight Again. Book 3 in the Hell or High Water Series.
Author: SE Jakes
Release Date: May 5th, 2014
Before Prophet Drews can have a future, he must first put his past to rest.
Prophet Drews is a man on the edge, and he’s pulling Tom Boudreaux, his partner on the job and in real life, right over with him. When his old CO calls in a favor, Prophet asks Tom to join the off-the-grid rescue. But the mission raises all of Prophet’s old ghosts: CIA assassins, the terrorist Sadiq, and most importantly, John—traitor, former teammate, and Prophet’s first love.
To help bury those ghosts for good, Prophet and Tom gather the members of Prophet’s former SEAL team . . . and a spook named Cillian who’s been tailing Prophet for years. In the process, Prophet is forced to face his team’s shifting loyalties, ghosts who refuse to stay dead, and scariest of all, his own limitations.
With everyone’s lives in danger, Prophet and Tom must unravel a tangled knot of secrets, including their own. Prophet must decide how much to reveal to Tom, while Tom must decide how far he’s willing to go to help Prophet lay his ghosts to rest.
Arc provided by SE Jakes and Riptide Publishing. Thank you
1st and foremost. These covers. They keep getting hotter and hotter.. and hotter. Try not to lick your e-reader. Go ahead. Try.
5+ I love Prophet so much stars.
Hell or High Water Series.
If you know me, you have to know that I grumble grumble grumble about in-complete series. I have ZERO patience waiting for books. ZERO. I get really angry and become this person that you don’t want to be around. Sounds bad? Well trust me it is.
Hell or High Water Series.
I’m like a moth to a flame with this one. I could give 2 shoots about SE always leaving me at the edge of a cliff. Because you know what? SHE ALWAYS leaves me at the edge of a cliff dammit! And I love it. SE’s High Water and Dirty Deeds interwoven magic are the only series where I will willingly jump off that cliff. And man oh man do I enjoy the ride!
Its Friday afternoon, I have no kids! One’s at work and the other is gone for the night out of town. It’s just me and the hubz. Date night. I hear the chime to Slitsreads email. I look. I gasp. I jump around. I dance. I scream. I express my undying love to Shawnie and Riptide. I HAVE PROPHET.
Needless to say I left my husband to the wind.
I have Prophet.
Best book out of the whole damn bunch so far and that is saying A LOT.
Secrets are revealed. We got violence. We got some smoking freaking sex. We got angst.
The 1st 5% of the book I didn’t know if I should go try to scratch the itch or cry.
My poor poor Proph. He broke my heart.
SE gave us such a good mix. Between the sex and all the drama going down. 50/50. No more no less. It was utter perfection.
The story is fast paced. Really fast paced. Something happens and you try to start to reel from it and then BAM something else is going down. In between all of this we got the sex.
The sex will leave you panting. And visualizing. And wanting.
But above all. The story has depth. Way more depth than the 1st two books. Years and years of mind fuckery about to be exposed. Characters that we heard about in book 1 come back in book 3 with a vengeance, with revenge, bad characters. Characters that you want to kill. Maim. Slay. If you’ve read book 3 you know exactly who I am talking about.
And the cast of characters that we love are back.
And you can see where Dirty Deeds is interwoven with Hell or High Water.
The only 2 I love.
I want them both.
In a sandwich.
I’m still jealous of Tommy. I know its irrational. But so what. They are my fictional loves. MINE.
I wait. Till August. For more.
On the cliff. That I crawled back up after I jumped off.
All hail the Queen of Cliffs. Ms SE Jakes.
My reviews for book 1 and 2:
