Bastian’s Storm (Surviving Raine #2) by Shay Savage

Sebastian Stark just isn’t cut out for normal life with a girlfriend in the hot and humid city of Miami. All in all, he’d rather be back on the island where it was just the two of them, and he could keep everything in balance. The bar down the street tempts him daily, but he’s determined to remain strong. Adjusting to normal life is difficult, but Bastian is doing his best to keep himself together and the nightmares away. Raine’s happy, and that’s what matters to him the most.

But not all nightmares can be driven away.

When Bastian’s former mentor comes into the picture and presents him with an ultimatum, Bastian slips into old habits. Though he wants to shield Raine from the truth, the shady circumstances of his past form into a hurricane he can’t control. In an effort to protect her, Bastian has no choice but to throw himself back into his old job – death match tournaments – just one last time.

Dropped into the arctic wilderness with weapons loaded, Bastian has to compete against representatives from major crime lords all over the states. He’s studied his competition, he knows their weaknesses, and he’s ready to battle for the woman he loves. There’s only one opponent in the mix that causes him any concern. In order to guarantee Raine’s safety, Bastian will be pitted against the key hit man for Chicago’s largest mob family – a guy who’s known as one hell of a shot.

A guy named Evan Arden.

5 HOT Stars!

I have been scared lately on reading follow-up books cause I don’t want to destroy that mind blowing, unforgettable and all sort of awesome impression that that first book made. And Surviving Raine was all that! It was totally amazing! So with fingers crossed, I dove in and hope for the best! And I’m glad I did!  Cause, I LOVED it!

This is so wonderfully written I felt all sort of angst from the start to end.

With Bastian and Raine now  back to civilization, living in Miami, trying to live a normal life.. and Raine going to College… and Bastian? Well, he is pretty much feeling all sort of miserable. Haha! I know, cruel of me to laugh, but it is Bastian!!!

Then his past comes to haunt him,  giving  him no choice but to  participate once more on the death match tournament to protect their lives.

Bastian is still that same grumpy bad-ass-with-attitude that I fell in love with in the first book. With this written under his POV…. I felt all that he was feeling, his restlessness, his anxiety, his fight to do right and his desperately need and love for Raine.

He completely stole my heart!

And drunk Bastian was just so funny, loved that part of the story.

There is absolutely nothing not to like about Raine, she is sweet and is completely devoted and in-love with Bastian.

There was a moment, with their difference adding in Bastian’s moodiness, that I thought it might just affect their relationship.  But it’s funny how in life something happens that’ll make you realize what matters most.  And that’s   exactly how the author turned their story around.

It’s captivating, suspenseful, action pack, with a surprising twist in the end.

Not to forget, a lot of real HOT scenes!!!! And with the perfect ending.

A must read specially if you have read the first book! I highly recommend both books.

I have not read about Evan’s story,  he is Bastian’s toughest challenger in the tournament…. but now I am really quite curious. A definite must read for me.
