About the book:
Over two hundred and thirty years ago the Fallocaust happened, killing almost everything that lived and creating what is now known as the greywastes. A dead wasteland where cannibalism is a necessity, death your reality, and life before the radiation nothing but pictures in dog-eared magazines.
Reaver is a greywaster, living in a small block controlled by a distant ruler said to have started the Fallocaust. He is a product of the savage world he was raised in and prides himself on being cold and cruel. Then someone new to his town catches his eye, someone different than everyone else. Without knowing why he starts to silently stalk him, unaware of where it will lead him.
5 Blow me The Fuck AWAY stars.
If you never listened to me before, because lets face it, who listens to me???? READ THIS BOOK. Read it!
I have never ever been so mind fucked in my life.
I will never get this feeling back ever again.
I think I smoked half a carton of cigarettes, 10 pots of coffee, endless supply of Pepsi in the 5 days it took me to devour this book.
My nervous system is a mess.
For a while I thought I was going to have a heart attack from sheer nerves and adrenaline that was coursing through my veins.
767 pages. Page turners. Every other page brings something new. Another gasp. Another Holy SHIT did that just happen! Another cringe. Another OMG did they really just eat that person… Because yes people got eaten.
The images, the feelings, the crazy fucked up, fucked up, OMG so fucked up world Quil Carter builds.
Its seared now into my very essence.
Moving on from this book has been atrocious. I just can’t do it. I lived it, breathed it, relished it for 5 days and now I feel like I’ve lost a part of myself.
It sucks. And although this is book 1… I still have to wait for book 2….
Sigh. FML. Big sigh
Thank God I had the companion novel to follow up with. And then after that, even more so, I am disconnected from real life.
I wanna just smoke a quil in the greywastes with Reaver and eat people.
Don’t judge me.
You’ll feel the same after you read it too.
After I finished I made Silvana read it. Here’s Sil’s thoughts on the book. And if you wanna believe her over me…GO FOR IT!
4 loving the dark stars
For days, this book was all Mare could talk about, she was obsessed. I listened to Mare, read the book and I loved it. Fallocaust is one the best indie books by a debut author this year. The plot is so GOOD, once I started reading, I became so engaged that sleep was abandoned in favor of reading, did not want to put this book down.
Fallocaust is dark, twisted, and gripping. There are scenes that make you cringe, the violence is so morbid- some of the events are nerve-racking and disturbing, that I wonder how I was able to finish it with my sanity intact. The characters except for Killian are so flawed with hardly any redeeming qualities, but I couldn’t help falling in love with Leo, Greyson, Reno and most especially REAVER. Being in Reaver’s head was confounding, yet I never enjoyed a fictional character’s POV more.
The ending was a killer, will be waiting for book 2 and reading it as soon as it comes out, hopefully soon.
Thank you Mare for another great recommendation, keep them coming.
