Elicit (Eagle Elite #4) by Rachel Van Dyken

Cursed, numb, rejected, scorned, wicked, sinister, dark, twisted…my name is Tex Campisi and this is my legacy. I killed my father in cold blood and lost my soul right along with him.
I crave war more than peace, and I’m about to take my place in history as the youngest Capo dei Capi in the Cosa Nostra…that is until someone stops me, saves me from myself.

But the only person able to do that…is my best friends sister, Mo Abandanato, and she just ripped my heart out and asked me to hold it in my hands while she put bullets through it.

Im cursed so I did it.
I’m numb so I held it.
I’m wicked so I liked it.
I used the pain Mo caused as a catalyst to turn into my biggest nightmare–the five families greatest enemy. It’s my turn to take a stand, knowing full well I’m going to lose my mind to the madness that is the American Mafia. I’ve always been told Blood is thicker than life. I wish I would have listened. Because regardless of who you love? You will betray. You will kill.
Blood Always Wins.
The only way out is death…yours.

Welcome to the Dark Side of the Family.

I am a huge fan of this series, huge! A new hot generation of mafias, what’s not to love, there is drama, humour, romance, suspense and action.

The story continues on the drama between Mo and Tex which left a quite intriguing ending on the last book.

To make the story short, in this sequel, Tex is dealing with the aftermath of killing his father… And while he is fighting his demons… he also is left with no choice but to be what he is meant to be, the capo to the Campisi clan. While Mo will do everything to keep Tex safe, even if he’ll never forgive her for it.

In the end… he would choose Campisi.
In the end… she would choose Abandonato.
In the end… there would be bloodshed.

Like I said, I love this series, I love all the characters of this book, specially Nixon and Trace, well, mostly cause first impression last and their story started off this series. This time though, I hate to say it, some of the first half or quarter of the book felt just a little bit all over the place to me. I didn’t quite get into it or I got kinda confused there for a bit, might just be me. 😉 But anyway, all the pretence or the drama between Mo and Tex, the brooding…. it got tiring. But not all of it. I did want to hit my head on the wall if Tex says “I hate you so much, but not as much as I love you” one more time!

Then there is the surprise resurrection of someone that was supposedly dead. At first I wasn’t quite buying it, it kinda made me think of a soap opera, lol…. but discounting all that, I did love how it worked out in the end.

And how about Sergio’s feeling for Mo? That was a surprise. I thought it was going to be another Chase-Nixon-Trace kinda thing, but I’m glad it didn’t go that way.

But on the second half or last quarter of the book, the Mo and Tex I loved finally stepped up! So now we are getting somewhere! And then I was loving the rest of the book. 😉

I love the intensity of Mo and Tex’s romance and that breath taking suspense and action at the peak of the story. I love how the story came together in the end.

Chase and Mil brought the humour this time… Tex though tries… but it’s his turn to shine in this book. 😉

This book is full of surprises, with just the right amount of angst… The story is also about second chances… I don’t want to say give away any spoiler, so I’ll just leave it at that.

I know I said first half or quarter or second half or last quarter is confusing…. it is cause… while this is Mo and Tex’s book… there is also a bonus novella that is of Nixon and Trace…. which, by the way, is just as adorable and hot as Nixon.

Still loving the whole group dynamic…. that part never gets old to me. 😉

Then there is a sneak peak of Eagle Elite book 5 and another sneak peek of another Rachel Van Dyken book that is “Bang Bang”…. both sounds real good too to me.
