At Grave’s End (Night Huntress #3) by Jeaniene Frost Review

At Grave's End (Night Huntress, #3)

At Grave’s End (Night Huntress #3)

It should be the best time of half-vampire Cat Crawfield’s life. With her undead lover Bones at her side, she’s successfully protected mortals from the rogue undead. But though Cat’s worn disguise after disguise to keep her true identity a secret from the brazen bloodsuckers, her cover’s finally been blown, placing her in terrible danger.

As if that wasn’t enough, a woman from Bones’s past is determined to bury him once and for all. Caught in the crosshairs of a vengeful vamp, yet determined to help Bones stop a lethal magic from being unleashed, Cat’s about to learn the true meaning of bad blood. And the tricks she’s learned as a special agent won’t help her. She will need to fully embrace her vampire instincts in order to save herself—and Bones—from a fate worse than the grave

4 Stars!!

I have to admit that I found the beginning really slow and was starting to feel a bit detached, while I love Cat and Bones as a couple, I was getting a bit bored with the romance and the whole scenario involving Tate. Tate’s constant attempts at goading Bones, as well as making gooey eyes at  Cat nonstop, were annoying me; he is one character that got on my nerves, his obsession with cat, as well the tit for tat with Bones are getting tiresome.

However this soon changed, the plot took a turn for the better and I found myself immersed in reading- One aspect that made this a great read for me is the action, the action scenes were very well written and had me riveted. The twists kept coming and I enjoyed reading about the amazing secondary characters, be it the good guys or the villains; I am in love with Vlad already and can’t wait to read his books.

I will confess to liking Justina’s character more and more, she seems to be changing and is growing on me. I love her interactions with Bones,  and the pleasure he derives from driving Justina mad.

“Actually, Justina, I didn’t just ring you to chat about what an undead murderer i was…right, degenerate whore as well. Did I ever tell you my mum was one? No? Oh, blimey, I come from a long line of whores, in fact I called to give you the good news. I asked your daughter to marry me and she accepted. Congratulations, I will officially be your son-in-law. Now, do you want me to call you Mum straightaway, or wait until after the wedding?”

The drama involving Bones and Cat’s reaction to it, broke my heart, I am so glad Vlad talked Cat out of doing something stupid. By the end of the book, I fell in love with Cat and Bones as a couple again, though Bones needs to stop protecting Cat so much, she’s a big girl.
