As president of the Predators’ MC, my men and I are used to preying on the weak and those stupid enough to cross our paths. So why does a straitlaced teacher make me sit up and take notice when I see her for the first time?
The brothers all think she makes me weak, and believe me, weak in their eyes isn’t where I want to be. She wants me to prove she means more to me than the club, and when I fail, she thinks she can just walk away. She’s wrong. I’m a Predator, and nothing escapes me.
As a teacher, I’m supposed to want to educate those who want to learn, right? That’s what I believed until I was told I’d have to teach a class at the prison. I didn’t move to a town labeled as one of the safest places in America only to be faced with a bunch of Predators.
He expects me to trust him despite being the reason I’m trapped in the middle of a prison riot. His club means more to him than I ever will, and if I give him a chance, he will break the fragile peace I have managed to find. It’s not the first time I’ve had to escape a predator.
All hail to the queen of biker romance books!
I really love how Jamie Begley constantly surprises me on each biker’s characters and their story, and how, if you’re a fan, and I am, and have read all her biker books from the start, you would instantly recognize the series-character’s connections!
Like, I knew of Jackal and Penni (Penni is Shade’s (from Shade’s Fall, The Last Riders series) sister) and have read Colton and Vida’s story on Teased on the VIP series… Why am I mentioning them? Cause Jackal and Colton are with the Predator MC and I have always been curious about their group and now, finally, their very own series!!!! Yay!!!
And what better way to introduce them with by starting with their own club president, Ice!
It all started with Ice and some of his club members namely, Jackal, Max, Buzzard, and Fade were raided, cuffed and jailed. And there, they have a plan… and this plan includes a certain teacher, who just happens to be the lead female character, Grace, who was left with no choice but to teach computer class at prison, that same prison where Ice and the rest of the gang are in.
I can’t really say more about the story without spoiling it… so I’ll just leave it at that.
I was so not liking Ice to start with, I didn’t like what he did, but then I got to know him more and I started warming up to him and ended loving Ice in the end. His being possessively jealous was hilarious yet sweet!
Example, Ice reaction to a chocolate cake Grace baked for him on his birthday that Grace had also made for Jones’s birthday. Jones is a co-worker of Grace that she also dated long before she met Ice. And this is a scene where Ice was having dinner at Grace’s place and Jones was there as Cece’s date. (Cece is Grace’s BFF.)
“Thanks, Grace. I love your chocolate cake. I gained five pounds on the one you made me for my birthday.”
Ice rose from the table. “She made you a cake for you birthday?”
“It was from the whole faculty,” Grace explained, escaping to the kitchen.
Ice followed her in, packing the dirty dessert plates.
“Don’t forget to wrap me a piece to take home, too.” His caustic voice had her hackles rising.
“His birthday was last July before I met you, not that it matters.” She placed her hands on her hips. “I can make that cake for anyone I want to.”
“That’s my cake.”
“It’s my cake and I can—”
Ice backed her against the counter, taking her face between his hands. His mouth landed on hers with a demanding passion, which didn’t ease until her arms circled his neck, and she was clinging to his broad shoulders.
He lifted his head. “That’s my cake.”
“It’s yours. I’ll make him a carrot cake for his next birthday.”
It didn’t take long for me to connect with Grace and I specially loved her when she stood up for herself. The poor girl is never out of danger! But not for the lack of trying. I guess you can’t stop who you fall in love with. 😀
Ice went stiff. “You want me to pretend to be someone I’m not?”
Grace’s heart ached as her hand dropped away. “No. I haven’t asked you to change anything about yourself. You expect me to wait on you like the women at your club, and I don’t mind it, because I like making you happy. I go to the club and stay with you and hang out with your friends, even though one of them humiliated me and none of them want me to be with you, because I don’t fit in, but I do it to make you happy. I wear jeans and tops I usually just wear around the house, but I wear them to make you happy. It would be nice if you did the same for me once to make me happy and keep my mother from spending the next few days asking why I’m with you.”
I really enjoyed Ice and Grace’s interactions. It was sweet, romantic, fun and hot!
Like all the other biker books of Ms. Begley’s, there’s enough action and suspense that gives the story a certain edge… And the story comes together in the end.
Not to forget the humour… wait till you meet Grace’s mom who hates Ice! 😉
Loved it. ❤️❤️
