Daughter of the Pirate King (Daughter of the Pirate King #1) by Tricia Levenseller

There will be plenty of time for me to beat him soundly once I’ve gotten what I came for.

Sent on a mission to retrieve an ancient hidden map—the key to a legendary treasure trove—seventeen-year-old pirate captain Alosa deliberately allows herself to be captured by her enemies, giving her the perfect opportunity to search their ship.

More than a match for the ruthless pirate crew, Alosa has only one thing standing between her and the map: her captor, the unexpectedly clever and unfairly attractive first mate, Riden. But not to worry, for Alosa has a few tricks up her sleeve, and no lone pirate can stop the Daughter of the Pirate King.

Mare's Review

Here’s the thing. I have this crazy love hate relationship with YA books. It has to be done really well for me to actually read a book in the same age bracket as my kid, but, I had a really horrible 2016 and couldn’t read the angsty books that I normally tend to gravitate too as I cried enough in RL and I wanted to giggle and get lost in stuff that didn’t surround RL issues.

So enter pirates.

Holy Batman was this book 1 of the easiest and one of the most enjoyable books that I have laid my eyes on.

The Heroine, Captain Alosa, was so refreshing. I loved her thoughts and her banter and her siren ways. I love that she was so badass and also had a heart when she needed it. That she could be so tough and yet so sweet. Isnt that how all women should be?

Enter Riden with his sexy smile and honest to God every time he uttered the word Lass I swooned a little.

The banter between these 2 was so good. They made out with words. I love relationships that are built this way. No insta love or lust which is a very big thing for me, some mystery surrounding Alosa as well as Riden and some UST. Mix all that shit together and you have a really good book with a great plot.

I seriously can’t wait for book 2. As per the author this will be a duology. I for one HATE Cliffhangers. I’d honestly rather a hang nail then be left waiting in the wind probably for a whole year. But. Even I can’t really complain how this one was left off. It was left off as more adventures to come.

Pirate adventures.
