The rules of the game don’t apply off the field in this first Barons novel.
New York Barons tight end Gavin Brawley is suspended from the team and on house arrest after a video of him brawling goes viral. Gavin already has a reputation as a jerk with a temper on and off the field—which doesn’t help him once he finds himself on the wrong side of the law. And while he’s been successful professionally, he’s never been lucky when it comes to love.
Noah Monroe is a recent college grad looking for a job—any job—to pay off his mounting student debt. Working as Gavin’s personal assistant/babysitter seems like easy money. But Noah isn’t prepared for the electrifying tension between him and the football player. He’s not sure if he’d rather argue with Gavin or tackle him to the floor. But both men know the score, and neither is sure what will happen once Gavin’s timeout is over…

“Hear ye Hear ye! All rise for the King of Sexual Tension!!!! Mr Santino Hassell”
You guys!!!! Im gonna be straight up and say that this past yearish I have not read lots in the M/M genre. I don’t know. I felt like I was reading the same thing over and over and over again and it became disheartening.
Then Santino writes a book and Im all like YESSSSSSSSSSS but I wait for all the hyperbole to simmer down, I wait till I get into a mood that strikes, like OK go Mare its time. Read your fav genre, all will be ok.
After Midnight was my 1st Hassell read and that book had me all crazy. The tension that simmered within the pages was amazing. Here’s a truth. I will take sexual tension and connection in my stories over any sex scene. That is a FACT. When a story can go 70% with that tension I am 1 fucking happy girl. And Hassell always delivers this for me.
This book reminded me so much of The Wall of Winnipeg and Me. Sameish story line, sameish tension, hate to love.
GUYS!!!!! Can you imagine if the Queen of Slow Burn Mariana Zapata and the King of Sexual Tension got together to co-write a story. Holy SHIT. I would die.
I really really liked Gavin. His broody moody give no fucks attitude was his best asset. And underneath it all his sweetness was touching.. See most people like to have a mate that includes both. Personally I’ll take 75% asshole 25% sweetheart cause I find it always makes life more interesting.
And Noah gave as good as he got.
I totally enjoyed this book and am excited for the next one.
So Hassell thanks for giving this girl back some joy in this genre.
