Review: Ice Queen/ Mirror Of My soul ( Nature of desire #3 and #4) by Joey W Hill

nod-iq180x270  Book III of the Nature Of Desire Series(can read as standalone, but story continued in sequel Mirror of my Soul)

Released March 2006

They call her the Ice Queen. At the exclusive BDSM club known as The Zone, Mistress Marguerite is a legend. Tyler Winterman has been fascinated with her since he’s known her, though the rules of their world say they shouldn’t share more than mutual admiration. He is her male counterpart, one of the most powerful male Doms practicing at The Zone.

Due to a computer error, Marguerite lacks the mentoring program stipulation required of all Zone Doms, which includes spending a number of hours learning about BDSM from the submissive’s perspective. Tyler considers it an act of fate that Marguerite chooses him to be the Dom who helps her fulfill that requirement. He is convinced she is a “switch”, a closet submissive, but the truth will be even more remarkable than the theory, changing their lives in ways neither of them anticipates.

Having no equal except one another in their skills at stripping a sub’s defenses bare, these two Dominants will turn their considerable talents on each other and discover that who is Master and who is slave doesn’t matter, not when two souls have found their mate.

nod-mms180x270Book IV of the Nature Of Desire Series

(Sequel to Ice Queen)

Released May 2006

Some stories can’t be contained between the covers of just one book…

Marguerite and Tyler’s story, which began in Ice Queen, continues in Mirror of My Soul. Having resolved some of the issues that arose between them as two sexual dominants, they now explore whether Marguerite’s desire to be Mistress and slave both will be accepted by Tyler, and whether the shadows of their respective pasts will have the power to destroy the love growing between them.

Silvana's Review

Ice Queen: 4 Stars, I loved getting to know both MCs

Mirror of My Soul : 5++++ Stars, is there anything better than Joey W Hill’s writing, not even coffee and chocolate can compare.

Hero/Tyler: All the stars in the world.

Heroine/ Marguerite: 3 Stars for book 1, I didn’t feel connected to her character.

5 Stars for book 2 Mirror of My Soul, loved her character growth, delving into her backstory broke my heart, made me cry and I totally understood her aloofness and mistrust.

You know when words are not enough to describe a book that totally consumed you while reading, where words you have used before seem so inadequate, Mirror of My Soul was that book. Don’t get me wrong, I loved both books for Tyler and Marguerite but  their second book had me enthralled ( again not adequate enough). I mean the chemistry was sizzling, the writing and imagery were beautiful. Joey W Hill covers the sensual, the emotional connection as well as the physical aspects of the romance between the protagonists; as a reader I didn’t feel cheated; I loved reading about the BDSM aspect of the story.

I am looking through the dictionary to find a word to describe Tyler, but all I could find was PERFECT, it will have to do for now.

Marguerite was a complex character which I felt disconnected from in Ice Queen, but as I read Mirror of My soul, her character, strength, charisma and heart drew me in, I began to see the  woman that Tyler was so in love with.

As with Rough Canvas, the author writes characters that are flawed, broken, complicated and utterly real; A story line that makes you smile, tear up and fall in love alongside the characters,  I highlighted whole pages at times

“Because.” He leaned forward, his hand slipping up her back to unerringly trace the scar tissue of the design burned there, now concealed under the robe. “Someone drew you wings a long time ago and you’ve been trying to decide whether to fly away ever since.” <…> “And because when I look at you, I think you’re a gift from God.”
―  Ice Queen

“We forget that sometimes there is something greater than our pain. That’s the pain of the person who loves us, who couldn’t protect us from that pain.”

―  Mirror of My Soul

I was just looking at the Joey W Hill forum and just found the Vignette for Tyler and Marguerite as well as Marcus and Thomas; Well I’m just gonna have to stop my fangirling/rambling of a review here and go read some more about Tyler and Marcus.

Deep (Stage Dive #4) by Kylie Scott Review

Don’t miss a beat with the fourth and final novel in the USA Today bestselling Stage Dive series from Kylie Scott.

Positive. With two little lines on a pregnancy test, everything in Lizzy Rollins’ ordinary life is about to change forever. And all because of one big mistake in Vegas with Ben Nicholson, the irresistibly sexy bass player for Stage Dive. So what if Ben’s the only man she’s ever met who can make her feel completely safe, cherished, and out of control with desire at the same time? Lizzy knows the gorgeous rock star isn’t looking for anything more permanent than a good time, no matter how much she wishes differently.

Ben knows Lizzy is off limits. Completely and utterly. She’s his best friend’s little sister now, and no matter how hot the chemistry is between them, no matter how sweet and sexy she is, he’s not going to go there. But when Ben is forced to keep the one girl he’s always had a weakness for out of trouble in Sin City, he quickly learns that what happens in Vegas, doesn’t always stay there. Now he and Lizzie are connected in the deepest way possible…but will it lead to a connection of the heart?

Nancy’s thoughts:
  Complete Entertainment Stars!

I am such a huge fan of this series. I love the humour and the romance altogether. And Ms. Kylie Scott always create such wonderful characters! I was most definitely entertained and more!

Lizzy, Anne’s younger sister, had this huge crush and immense attraction towards Ben from the very first time she saw him…. So, she decided to pursue him while Ben tried to stay away from Lizzy even when he was just as equally attracted to her… Except that one time, that one night in Vegas… and they acted on said attraction. What’s one night right? Well, it only took that one night to get Lizzy pregnant!

And the problem here is Ben,the Bass player of Sky Dive, because he has commitment-phobe… he doesn’t date, much less have a girlfriend… And he wouldn’t change his lifestyle for anything and anyone. Now comes a baby!!!

It was easy to relate and fall in love with Lizzy’s character. She has such charming personality! Her thoughts had me laughing. A hormonal Lizzy is double the fun! All in all, she really is a smart lady, she can read Ben so well. It’s just that… she hopes. But she also knows when she’s had enough.

Ben, no matter how much of an ass his character was towards Lizzy, I really couldn’t hate him. He sounds more like a boy afraid someone will take his toys away from him. 😉 But, he really does have his reasons, or so he thinks. Men can be so dumb yet adorable, and that’s basically how I picture Ben. 😉

And speaking of boys, I mean men 😀 … Mal, Jimmy and David with their respective better halves, of course, are all in full force here too! With Mal stealing the scene now and then. He definitely had me laughing out loud. And I finally got to read about Anne and Mal’s wedding! I think that was a bonus!

I just totally enjoyed all their funny spontaneous convos!

There was just the right amount of angst that triggered all sorts of emotions! One minute it had me laughing, then laughing some more, then sad, then angry (but never angry enough when it comes to Ben). Then it had me tearing up some… Then it had me smiling in the end. 😀 Perfect!

Don’t forget the hot factor… there is a lot of “fire-trucking” involved. 😉

Beautifully, beautifully written! I have nothing but high praise!

Silvana’s thoughts :

Well my thoughts about this mirror Nancy’s, I loved it; Honestly I put this off thinking that I wouldn’t enjoy it as much as I did.

Lizzy was a character I could not help but like, her thoughts conveyed her emotions in a way that wasn’t whiny and there  were times where I was laughing while reading them.  I did feel for our Lizzy, but it was nothing that she didn’t bring on herself from the beginning.

I was never Ben’s biggest fan and I thought he was a bit of jerk in book 1, well he is still a jerk but one I grew to love while reading this installment. Ms Scott stayed true to his character; there was growth and yet it wasn’t done too quickly as to make the reader need to suspend their disbelief, in order to enjoy the book. Ben took his time getting used to a situation he never wanted in the first place, and while it was frustrating for me as a reader, it was believable.

As with all the previous books, this romance was the right combination of angst, drama, and humor without feeling overwhelmed.

“Ben, I don’t want to take your freedom. I just want a place in your world. An important one.” He craned his neck, tipping my chin up to make me look at him at the same time. “Sweetheart, you’ve been important since day one. Only girl I kept coming back to”

It was so good to see the other couples and where they are at in terms of relationships and life, Jimmy was quite a surprise; His growth as a character is even more apparent in this installment. I may have mentioned in my previous reviews how much I love Mal, well this hasn’t changed, he is still my favorite character.

“He’s definitely going to be relieved to get out of the pet hotel. That’s one silver lining at least. The last few times I’ve called, he’s flat-out refused to speak to me.” “He’s a dog, Anne. He can’t talk.” More frowning. “But he used to make these little yipping noises and bark at me. You know what I mean. I’m worried this has given him abandonment issues. He’s a very sensitive animal. He’s like Mal, deep down, in a way.”

To say I’m sad to see this series end is an understatement. The author managed to deliver a memorable series, well written, beautifully delivered plots, amazing relatable characters, traditional tales of romance with new and funny twists.

The Duke of Shadows by Meredith Duran Review

imageIn a debut romance as passionate and sweeping as the British Empire, Meredith Duran paints a powerful picture of an aristocrat torn between two worlds, an heiress who dares to risk everything…and the love born in fire and darkness that nearly destroys them.

From exotic sandstone palaces…

Sick of tragedy, done with rebellion, Emmaline Martin vows to settle quietly into British Indian society. But when the pillars of privilege topple, her fiancé’s betrayal leaves Emma no choice. She must turn for help to the one man whom sheuld not trust, but cannot resist: Julian Sinclair, the dangerous and dazzling heir to the Duke of Auburn.

To the marble halls of London…

In London, they toast Sinclair with champagne. In India, they call him a traitor. Cynical and impatient with both worlds, Julian has never imagined that the place he might belong is in the embrace of a woman with a reluctant laugh and haunted eyes. But in a time of terrible darkness, he and Emma will discover that love itself can be perilous — and that a single decision can alter one’s life forever.

Destiny follows wherever you run.

A lifetime of grief later, in a cold London spring, Emma and Julian must finally confront the truth: no matter how hard one tries to deny it, some pasts cannot be disowned…and some passions never die. (less)

five-stars And more!

So this what a book hangover feels like?! I have finished this book days ago and I still can’t let go of it. I had to google how to get rid of a book hangover but nothing worked, I mourned with Ashlee who seems to be just as lost as me, tried other books to abandon after a few chapters.

One word for this book, GEM.

This novel is uplifting and heart-wrenching at the same time. The writing is faultless, the imagery incredible and the connection between our lovers scorching.

As I read, it was easy to imagine being part of the epic story that our author created, to experience our protagonists’ every emotion.

Our hero was perfect in every way, well to me he was. I know readers relate to books differently and what works for me may not touch other readers as deeply, but Julian was perfection!

Julian’s passion, sense of honor, cynicism at times and love are portrayed wonderfully. Ok I’ m going to fangirl a bit more and declare that he is one of ‘BEST HEROES’ I have read about.

Our heroine is as interesting and likeable, Emma’s character was a joy to read as well as her journey throughout the book. As a reader, I wanted to ease her pain which I felt alongside with her.

They had so many obstacles to overcome, so many things working against that made my heart hurt; I understood what motivated them even though I didn’t agree with a few of their actions.

Now let’s talk about the sex scenes, lately I skim those thinking ‘same old same old’ but not with Julian and Emma; reading them gave more glimpses into their characters, besides the fact that I thought they were HOT.

I would have loved an epilogue, but that’s because I’m greedy and didn’t want to let Julian and Emma go.

I am intrigued by Lockwood’s character and his wife, I googled to see if there is a book written about him yet but found nothing- I would really love to read more about him. I will be trying other books by Ms Duran DEFINITELY.

I usually add quotes, but there are so many that I highlighted and you NEED to read this book to experience every word.

Leila’s years on the carnie circuit were certainly an education. What she didn’t learn: how to be a vampire, or how to be married to the most famous vampire of them all. Adjusting to both has Leila teetering on a knife edge between passion and peril, and now the real danger is about to begin…

It isn’t like Vlad to feel fear, but he does…for Leila, because his enemy knows she is Vlad’s greatest weakness. Nancy’s Thoughts***

I am a HUGE fan of Jeaniene Frost and it all started with the series Night Huntress If you haven’t read that one, I highly recommend you do. I fell in love with Bones in Night Huntress, same as I fell in love with Vlad there and much much more here on his very own series. Miss Frost writes such strong and equally different and interesting and consistent characters that you just can’t get enough of.  Really, really good!  😀

The story picked up where it left off… with Leila and Vlad still on the hunt for Vlad’s oldest enemy, Mihaly Szilagyi. And dealing still with  Vlad’s caveman attitude when it comes to his protectiveness towards  Leila. If he was frustratingly protective then, it only gets better or worst, depends on how you take it that is, hehe.  For Leila,  it has only gone worst. 😉

I could not help but love Leila’s character. She is funny and she does not linger or create any drama but instead, finds a way to move forward. And most of all, she kicks ass! 😉

The story is a lot more darker than the previous ones. There is a lot of action and thrill that kept me at the edge of my seat. It is edgy and with more angst. The romance only gets more intense and hotter than ever. It basically left me high in love. 😉

Vlad’s character is very consistent and  possibly  hotter as he gets more powerful!

Then there’s Maximus, dear Maximus… I hope he would still be there in the future books, his parting was just too sad.

Despite this being with 390 pages.. it felt like a short read cause it is fast paced, next thing I know, I am at the end of the page. Sigh. I just want to keep reading.  I would say the ending is a stalemate between a cliffy and not, as one problem is resolve and another I think bigger one just showed up. 😉 Can’t wait for the next one! 😀

Silvana’s Thoughts***

Well as soon as this came out, I had to start it and boy did I gobble it up. The writing is smooth and captures your attention- add to it great action, strong characterization and an entertaining dialogue, all this makes Bound By Flames an engrossing, entertaining book and a joy to read. Not to mention the romance between one of my favorite couples.

We start book 3 with Vlad still hunting that elusive enemy intent on harming him and Leila. I again have to agree with Nance’s thoughts above, I did feel that this is a much darker read than the previous installments and I loved that, the feeling of suspense and not knowing where it was all heading, kept me glued to the pages.

Let’s talk about Vlad and Leila, absolutely adore our two protagonists. Jeaniene Frost did not DISAPPOINT and kept their characters consistent; Leila was the same old Leila, funny, feisty, vulnerable, loyal and totally in love with Vlad. Vlad was as protective as ever, one of my favorite heroes, no doubt about that.  Their scenes together sizzled, made me laugh and at times left me feeling sentimental, especially when Vlad’s ex-wife Carla was mentioned. I loved how this part of the story  was beautifully handled, with such sensitivity and that Vlad got his closure.

OK what about that twist at the end, totally unexpected and boy did I love it!

My only issue with the book and why I rated it 4 stars is poor Leila and the things she had to go through, AGAIN. I did feel uncomfortable reading some of the scenes, my heart hurt for her.

Cannot wait for the next book in Vlad’s and Leila’s journey.

Pre-Release: Falling (Fall or Break #1) by Barbara Elsborg

About the book:

Falling is easy. Landing without breaking your heart? Impossible.

Harper is no longer behind bars, but it doesn’t feel like it. Ten years serving time for a crime he didn’t commit have left him shut down, numb, and a frozen wreck over the simplest of choices.

He’s acutely aware of the dark-haired young man checking him out in the supermarket, but he’s too deep in panic mode to even meet the guy’s gaze. Afraid the slightest move will trigger a fall that will never stop.

Fresh off a long-term relationship with a controlling man, Malachi is stuck living with relatives who think he’s a waste of oxygen. The tall guy in the long, gray coat is the first bright spot he’s glimpsed in a long time…though the man’s unblinking stare at a bottle of shower gel is a touch alarming.

Hard experience tells both of them to turn away before lust turns to hopeless attraction, and inevitably to disaster. But once their sparks connect, the arc of electricity is too strong to deny. Even if the cost is too much to bear.

Warning: Contains an ex-con with disaster written all over him, a boy toy who’s trouble with a capital T, a damp old British house, compulsive meddling, and enough hot sex to cure the severe case of nervous babbling.

Mare's Review

* thank you Samhain Publishing via Netgalley for a copy of this e-book *

Im 100% in love with that cover and all covers that Samhain has been putting out. Just had to get that out there!

4 solid stars

This book had me so torn up. I liked it, it kept my interest. I kept saying I didn’t love it. As if there was something off about it, and I couldn’t put my finger on it! Maybe I thought the 2 MCs together were just….off?!?! Except when they were together they scorched me. They lit up my insides. It has been a real long time where I have picked up a new read and felt my insides slowly burning…. the feeling in that pit of your stomach… that this! this book! it’s going somewhere!

Then I thought hmmmm, its darker, edgier, def has angst… but not a Mareangstbook? What is it that is making me feel as if this just another read???

13 hours later I still cant tell you, but I can tell you that this book, the last 25% grew and exploded and made me think… Blimey!!!!! (new word for OMG and fits with the Brit boys in this book) this is FANTASTIC.

The mystery ran smoothly, the whodunit, the clues, worked seamlessly IMO.

The sex. The sex is so desperate and so hot and so just so… I have no words for it. When you read this book you will know what I mean.

The characters, so complex and you can feel (Harper’s) desperation, you can actually feel his heartbeat.

I loved both MCs equally. They both had qualities that you would want to find in a man. And the laughter and conversations melted me. Melted me.

I went through…

That was hott yet Im laughing

Biting my nails

Twisting my hair

This book shall give you it all.

And I will let you know that I really really really can’t wait for Book 2.

Once you meet Conrad I think you’re also going to be salivating for Book 2.

Dear Ms Elsborg.

Please dont make us wait long~

Yours truly,

Degradation (The Kane Trilogy #1)

The Devil has come out to play Eighteen year old Tatum O’Shea is a naive, shy, little rich girl. Twenty-three year old Jameson Kane is smart, seductive, and richer. They come together for one night, one explosion, one mistake, and Tate is hurled into space – no family, no money, and no Jameson. Seven years later, life is going pretty good for Tate, when she runs into Jameson again. This time, she thinks she’s ready for him. She doesn’t have a naive bone left in her body, and she can’t even remember what shy feels like. Jameson has evolved into Satan – sharp teeth, sharper claws, and a tongue that can cut her in half. It all sounds like fun to a girl like Tate, and she is ready to play, determined to prove that she isn’t the same girl he conquered once before. A series of games start, each one more devious than the last. But the devil likes to play dirty, and she learns that playing for souls is playing for keeps. The lines between games and reality, heaven and hell, get blurry. Can she beat Jameson at his own game before someone gets hurt? Or will he leave her soulless, making him the winner, once and for all? WARNING: contains a wannabe B-rate porn star, an impersonal personal assistant, and the F-word, A LOT. Also graphic sexual situations and sadomasochistic themes, and NO PNR.

Separation (The Kane Trilogy #2)

Can the Devil be Forgiven? Everything is fun and games until someone gets hurt, and what Jameson Kane did to Tatum O’Shea goes so far beyond hurt, he is well into the realm of unforgivable. Tate says she wants him gone for good, and he quickly learns that the old saying, “you don’t know what you’ve got ’til it’s gone”, is most definitely true. But Jameson has never been very good at following instructions, and when Satan decides to seek redemption, he’ll go to great lengths to get it. He proposes one last game – one to end them all, if she agrees to play. He is very confident that he can win, but Tate warns him that it’s not possible; she will not lose again. Little does she know, Jameson is prepared to do whatever it takes. Prepared to lay the entire world at her feet. Prepared to bear his soul. What he didn’t count on, though, was handing the damn thing over. Now Jameson can only pray that his evil ways haven’t rubbed off on Tate too much. Sometimes, it’s very difficult to tell who the Devil really is … WARNING: contains a semi-reformed devil, a woman scorned, and more Sanders than anyone has a right to witness. Also graphic sexual situations and strong language.

 Reparation (The Kane Trilogy #3)

The Devil has met his match When Tatum O’Shea decides it’s time for some payback, no one is safe from her new game – not even the devil himself. Tate is going to get her happily every after, even if it means making everyone else unhappy in the process. But a persistent Jameson, a meddling Sanders, and an amorous baseball player make it very hard for a girl to keep her focus, and suddenly it seems Tate has a few too many suitors for her fairy tale ending. Sometimes, it’s very difficult to tell who Prince Charming really is … WARNING: may induce Kindle throwing, screaming at fictional characters, and possibly a few tears. Also graphic sexual situations and sadomasochistic themes

After spending the last half of 2014 being disappointed with  contemporary M/F and gravitating towards other genres, The Kane Trilogy was recommended to me by Suz, I thought why not, I’ll give a try and boy am I’M SO GLAD I DID.

There are books that definitely stay with you and become your favorites, not because they are necessarily better than any others you have read which didn’t leave an impact, but because the writing, the characters and the unique plot grab you- this is what the Kane Trilogy did,  from the first page till the last. These books are definitely some of my favorites reads in 2014, the connection between the characters and their chemistry hooked me in from the beginning and I couldn’t stop reading till I devoured all three books. It was FUN, a  journey filled with drama, heat and some angst that tugs at your heart-strings, yet at the same time you are reading it with a big huge smile.

This was a perfect blend of hot, quirky, angsty and sweet ( I don’t know if Jameson would approve but he was sweet a few times and  made me swoon). Some of the best banter I have read, seemed so natural.

This series reminded me greatly of ‘This man’ series by Jodi, not the plot but the connection between the characters, I never thought I’d find a crazier couple than Jesse and Ava,  Jameson and Tate sure surpassed them on the crazy level and I love these two just as much. I love reading books where you can see the author’s sense of humor shine through and that they themselves had fun writing them; that’s how I felt reading the Kane Trilogy which made me enjoy them more.

The steam level, off the charts

Quick thoughts on the  main characters.

Book 1: I loved her, her strength, her craziness, her vulnerability.

Book 2: I wanted to smack some sense into her all throughout the book, I means seriously, I get why she’s acting the way she is but just drove me nuts.

Book 3: Really?!! Are we going to repeat the song and dance of book 2, Tate? Really?!

Book 1: What an asshole, I love you and I love that you are unapologetic and honest about who you are.

Book 2: I love you even more.

Book 3: Definitely one of my top male characters of all time, I love you. So glad you didn’t turn into a sappy and mushy version of yourself. Thank you Stylo.

Book 1: OMG, I want to have a Sanders of my own.

Book 2: Sanders gets better and better, talk about stealing the show, I keep going back to the scenes he is in and rereading.

Book 3: Where can I find a Sanders of my own? I need to see if I can make one to keep forever, I just need Stylo’s permission so I can delve into her brain and make my own Sanders.

All I can say is I cannot wait for the epilogue and READ THIS, YOU MUST.

It’s New Year’s Eve here in Sydney, 2014 was a great year, here’s hoping 2015 is even better. Happy New Year everyone.

Happy New Year Ms Fantome, you MUST write more.

Cheers and stay safe.

Review~~ The Concubine ( Letters To Her King) by Francette Phal

19549624 “In this pregnant silence, with nothing in the air but the echoes of our spent passion fusing with the sweet scent of summer night, I feel foolish for loving you. The absurdity of it is a blow right between to my battered heart. A concubine in love with her king.”

He rescued her from a fate worse than death and claimed her as his own. In the vast Norian palace, she is made concubine, one of many and is taught how to please the mighty Norian king. She knows she must keep her heart guarded, but how can she when his very touch sustains her soul? When a simple kiss from his lips evokes a burning desire that threatens to burn her alive? He is everything to her, but in her shadowed affections, bound as she is to him, she has little choice but to share him the countless women in his life.

In her shadowed affections, bound as she is to him, her heart burns every time she must share him with the many women in his life.

4.5 stars

I wasn’t sure about reading this one at first, I admit the blurb scared me, but I was very curious and intrigued at the same time; I finally succumbed and WOW.

After reading it, I wondered why I waited for so long. This book is intense, full of angst and heartache, I LOVED IT. I actually read it a few months back, but it is still ingrained in my memory.

I recommended The Concubine to a few ladies and I was scared they will hate it, which I knew would affect our friendship; I do adhere to the belief ‘To Each Their Own’, but I just didn’t want to listen to anything bad they would say, thankfully they loved it as much as I did. Just kidding girls, I would have loved you regardless, maybe.

The Concubine is written in the present tense as it is in the form of personal journals. I loved this approach and  felt like I was going through this timeless, emotional journey right alongside Lealin. Lea’s words managed to reach out to me as a reader, feeling her every emotion, be it pain,  fear, happiness, desire or hope.

Even though we of-course are not privy to Marik’s thoughts, I was able to see him and feel his passion for Lea through her eyes ; The author managed to make me fell in love with him. He pissed me off at times, broke my heart at others but redeemed himself.  A flawed man, a just king and a passionate lover. There are a few scenes at the end that cemented his status as one of my all time favorite fictional heroes.

For such a short novella, it covers a lot of time span and the author manages to give  a powerful love story without me ending up feeling shortchanged.

Do I regret reading it? Obviously not

Do I regret waiting so long to read it? YES.

Do I recommend? ABSOLUTELY.

4.5 stars

In her shadowed affections, bound as she is to him, her heart burns every time she must share him with the many women in his life.

Oh wow! The story is told through Lealin’s thoughts, she is the king’s favourite concubine… written in a kinda narrative poem style… and I’m digging it! Brings out the poet in me. lol… It is a refreshing change.

I didn’t expect I would easily like Lealin…. much more feeling her pain….

Will it always be this way? This unstoppable cycle of simple touches, softly whispered words, and I fall weak and wanting at your feet, never you’re equal, never your partner, always the wanton, weak willed concubine, slave, whore? I wear each title so well that I sometimes forget who I truly am.

It was just sad…

But I admired her love and devotion towards Marik.

Marik, one minute I was hating him, but then, understanding the time and age of the story, I adept! Yet, I’d hate him again… but ended up loving him in the end. I loved how the author redeemed his character.

There is so much more to the story… I never really knew where it was swaying to. I really am pleasantly surprised. And this is not a long read either but every page counts… with the perfect ending. The turning points, the highlights, they were breathtaking.

Here is one more of my favourite quotes :

“You dare to address the King so informally?”

“What do you suggest I call him then when he seeks pleasure from me? It would hardly do if I were to pant and moan “Your Majesties” everywhere. Hardly romantic.”

Snap!!! Haha.

Thank you Silvana for recommending. Mwaaah! ❤️❤️❤️
