This is an unconventional review. Because I’ve read this series 3 times and things are best in 3 right. Will I read it again. Yes. Another 3 times. Cause things happen in 3. All my feelings for all these books are formed in music. So here we go.

“I don’t wanna die for them to miss me
Yes I see the things that they wishin’ on me
Hope I got some brothers that outlive me
They gon’ tell the story, shit was different with me”

“And you know me
Turn the O2 into the O3, dog
Without 40, Oli’, there would be no me
Imagine if I never met the broskies “

“God’s plan, God’s plan
I can’t do this on my own, ay, no, ay
Someone watchin’ this shit close, yep, close
I’ve been me since Scarlett Road, ay, road, ay
Might go down as G.O.D., yeah, wait
I go hard on Southside G, ay, wait
I make sure that north-side eat, yuh
And still”

God’s Plan by Drake

“Saw the ghost of Elvis
On Union Avenue
Followed him up to the gates of Graceland
Then I watched him walk right through
Now security they did not see him
They just hovered ’round his tomb
But there’s a pretty little thing
Waiting for the King
Down in the Jungle Room
When I was walking in Memphis
I was walking with my feet ten feet off of Beale
Walking in Memphis
But do I really feel the way I feel?
They’ve got catfish on the table
They’ve got gospel in the air
And Reverend Green be glad to see you
When you haven’t got a prayer
But, boy, you’ve got a prayer in Memphis”
Walking in Memphis by
Marc Cohn
Gansey and Blue:
“Oooh, yeah
It was right
Even though it felt wrong
Nothin’ ever stopped you
From showin’ your progression suddenly
Broken lies
Driving backwards
Making all the wrong turns
Saying all the wrong words
Dodging angels
Oh, let’s not be alone
Let’s not be alone

Let’s be one
Oh, let’s not be alone
Empty thoughts fill the room
Breathe for me and I’ll breathe for you
Let’s be selfish, selfish, baby
Let’s be selfish, selfish, baby
Tonight, tonight
Tonight, yeah, yeah”
Selfish by Future ft Rihanna
“I’ve been burning, yes, I’ve been burning
Such a burden, this flame on my chest
No insurance to pay for the damage
Yeah, I’ve been burning up since you left
I’ve been smoking, oh
More than twenty a day
Blame it on rebellion
Don’t blame it on me
Wish I was younger
Back to the nineteenth of May
I had an open mind
Swore to never change
Funny how time goes by
Had respect for myself
That river ran dry
You reached the limit
I wasn’t enough
It’s like the fire replaced all the love”
Burning by Sam Smith
“Hold, hold on, hold on to me
‘Cause I’m a little unsteady, a little unsteady
Hold, hold on, hold on to me
‘Cause I’m a little unsteady, a little unsteady

Mama, come here
Approach, appear
Daddy, I’m alone
‘Cause this house don’t feel like home
If you love me, don’t let go, woah
If you love me, don’t let go
Hold, hold on, hold on to me
‘Cause I’m a little unsteady, a little unsteady
Hold, hold on, hold on to me
‘Cause I’m a little unsteady, a little unsteady
Mother, I know
That you’re tired of being alone
Dad, I know you’re trying
To fight when you feel like flying”
Unsteady by X-Ambassadors
Adam & Ronan:
“And I’d give up forever to touch you
Cause I know that you feel me somehow
You’re the closest to heaven that I’ll ever be
And I don’t want to go home right now
And all I can taste is this moment
And all I can breathe is your life
Cause sooner or later it’s over
I just don’t want to miss you tonight
And I don’t want the world to see me
Cause I don’t think that they’d understand
When everything’s made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am
And you can’t fight the tears that ain’t coming
Or the moment of truth in your lies
When everything feels like the movies
Yeah you bleed just to know you’re alive
And I don’t want the world to see me
Cause I don’t think that they’d understand
When everything’s made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am
I don’t want the world to see me
Cause I don’t think that they’d understand
When everything’s made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am”
Iris by The GooGoo Dolls
“Let’s dance in style, let’s dance for a while
Heaven can wait we’re only watching the skies
Hoping for the best, but expecting the worst
Are you gonna drop the bomb or not?
Let us die young or let us live forever
We don’t have the power, but we never say never
Sitting in a sandpit, life is a short trip
The music’s for the sad man
Can you imagine when this race is won?
Turn our golden the faces into the sun
Praising our leaders, we’re getting in tune
The music’s played by the, the madman
Forever young
I want to be forever young
Do you really want to live forever?
Forever, and ever
Forever young
I want to be forever young
Do you really want to live forever?
Forever young
Some are like water, some are like the heat
Some are a melody and some are the beat
Sooner or later they all will be gone
Why don’t they stay young?
It’s so hard to get old without a cause
I don’t want to perish like a fading horse
Youth’s like diamonds in the sun,
And diamonds are forever
So many adventures given up today
So many songs we forgot to play
So many dreams swinging out of the blue
Oh let it come true
Forever young
I want to be forever young
Do you really want to live forever
Forever, and ever?
Forever young
I want to be forever young
Do you really want to live forever
Forever, and ever?
Forever young
I want to be forever young
Do you really want to live forever
Forever young”
Forever Young by Alphaville
” I found God on the corner of First in Amistad
Where the west was all but won
All alone
Smoking his last cigarette
I said where you been?
He said, ask anything
Where were you
When everything was falling apart?
All my days
Spent by the telephone
That never rang
And all I needed was a call
That never came
From the corner of First and Amistad
Lost and insecure
You found me, you found me
Lying on the floor
Surrounded, surrounded
Why’d you have to wait?
Where were you, where were you?
Just a little late
You found me, you found me
In the end
Everyone ends up alone
Losing her
The only one who’s ever known
Who I am, who I’m not, and who I wanna be
No way to know
How long she will be next to me
Lost and insecure
You found me, you found me
Lying on the floor
Surrounded, surrounded…”

HeartOn (Full Hearts Book 2), by Amy Jo Cousins

When an injury sidelines NFL player Deion McCaskill—maybe permanently—he heads to Miami to stay with an old college teammate and his boyfriend. He packs his tailor-made suits, anxiety about the future, and the bisexuality he’s ignored for years because it didn’t fit with his drive to succeed at football’s most elite levels.

Set designer Carlos Kelly has always known he’s bi, but dating women is easier than making waves with his Puerto Rican/Irish Catholic family. His friends and coworkers from the theater community might be almost entirely on the rainbow spectrum, but Carlos keeps things simple. Except for this heat that keeps flaring between him and the hot football player visiting his best friend.

Two weeks. Two guys who’ve never explored their bisexuality before and don’t plan on coming out, ever. One promise to let each other try out every fantasy they’ve ever had. Zero feelings involved.

At least, that was the plan. . .

Oh, how I’ve missed the words from Amy Jo Cousins...She just knows how to melt my cold, black heart.

In HeartOn, book two in the Full Hearts series, my heart melted, I swooned a little, and I’m pretty sure I told my husband to go away while reading. I mean, when there is a book in my hand, that means DO NOT DISTURB. And no, I did not want to be disturbed while reading this. Why? Well, because HeartOn is simply delightful.

In this story about coming out, self discovery, love and friendship, I found that I was immediately absorbed. I fell in love with Deion and Carlos right from the start. Having met each of them in book one of this series, HeartShip, I had a little bit of a feel for them, but I didn’t *know* them. Now that I do, I find myself wanting to know more. I feel like there should be a check in some time soon. Only because I just want to know that these guys are happy, not because they don’t get their HEA. They totally get that. But do you know that feeling you get when you fall really hard for a couple, and you don’t want to let them go? That was me with Carlos and Deion.

Things I really loved… realism when discussing the mechanics of anal sex. Yea, that’s a thing to talk about. I appreciated the frankness each character had with each other regarding all topics, but especially sex and their expectations in their not really a relationship. I liked the respect they each had for for one another and their friends, and how their friends just let them be without all the pushing. When it came to each characters individual issues and struggles with coming out as bisexual, I’d hoped for a little bit more… at first. But to be honest, I’m glad I didn’t have to go through all of the repercussions. Those that there were had already been enough. Any more would have resulted in a change to the overall feel of the story. I like that Amy Jo kept it light and happy.

If you have not read HeartShip, it’s not necessary for this book but would really add to the “heart” of it all. Part of that heart comes from Benji and Josh. While they don’t take a large amount of page time, their presence is solid and a important. And lets face it, checking in with them is a total joy.

If you, like me, want to read something sweet and a little bit angsty, but a whole lot of fun, pick up HeartOn.

The Best of 2017

I’m about 9 days late but alas it was a very busy time.

It was a time of good cheer, family, food, merriment and more food.

If you’re like me its also about books 🙂

2017 was a rough start personally for me and books. It was a fight to find a good book and then I did and then I didn’t and then I did. I love how as a reader we are able to think we will stick to 1 genre and then you start reading something that you normally wouldn’t and you find the upmost joy and wonder what rock you were hiding under and what ever possessed you to think you should only read 1 genre all the time!

I had a wonderful time this year reading YA books. I say it over and over again that YA and I is a mixed bag of love and hate. I love to hate it and I hate to love it. I just sometimes feel… yucky? weird? I don’t know but this stupid notion that a grown woman should not find so much pleasure in teenage romance. HA.  I also fell in love with Thrillers! GAH!!!!!!!!!!! Suspense and gore! Give me more!

2017 was also about re-reading my favorites. There is something so comfortable about spending time with your favorite characters. Its like sitting beside a fire, with a coffee, wearing your reading socks, cozy blanket… you are just wrapped up in warmth!

With that said, here are my fav’s for 2017 and you can check out my review by clicking on the pic.

Unstrung by Laura Spinella

Wait For It by Mariana Zapata

Vicious by L.J Shen

The Last Place You Look by Kristen Lepionka

Why I Loathe Sterling Lane by Ingrid Paulson

The Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli

Daughter of the Pirate King by Tricia Levenseller

This Is Our Story by Ashley Elston

The Good Daughter by Karin Slaughter

One Of Us Is Lying by Karen M. McManus

Honorable mentions to my fav’s that I can read over and over and over again and never get bored!

Missing by Kelley Armstrong

The only thing Winter Crane likes about Reeve’s End is that soon she’ll leave it. Like her best friend did. Like her sister did. Like most of the teens born in town have done. There’s nothing for them there but abandoned mines and empty futures. They’re better off taking a chance elsewhere.

The only thing Winter will miss is the woods. Her only refuge. At least it was. Until the day she found Lennon left for dead, bleeding in a tree.

But now Lennon is gone too. And he has Winter questioning what she once thought was true. What if nobody left at all? What if they’re all missing?

Nancy's Review

I wanted to give this all the stars when it comes to Kelley Armstrong’s writing cause they just flows so smoothly that I am completely mesmerize from start to end. The mystery of the story often kept me wondering and guessing. Eighty-five percent through, I had my suspicion and I was completely wrong.

When that climatic scene came, with all the reveals, it all came so fast that I was taken by surprise! And that is good! All that gripping and shocking scenes. But there were also still some scenes that still baffled me. Like say for example: how did the culprit(s) easily removed everything, leaving no trace of evidence? But despite all the bit disappointing wrap up, I still enjoyed this to the point of not putting the book down and finishing it in one setting.

I picked up the book without reading the blurb because well, it’s Kelly Armstrong! 😉 But if you don’t already know, this story revolves around this small old town called Reeve’s End, where there is absolutely nothing but abandoned mines and zero future. So, for all or most teens of Reeve’s End, they can’t wait to get out of there. And that includes Winter Crane. Although Winter do loves the woods. And it’s in these woods, near her refuge cabin, that she rescued Lennon, who was bleeding in a tree. Then, Lennon disappears. And the questions and hunt starts here.

It’s on single point of view. Winter’s character, the lead female protagonist, is very easy to get into. She is smart, strong and soft inside. Lennon and Jude, has both distinguish mysterious characters that I also liked.

It’s fast paced, very mysterious, frighteningly weird, there is suspense, lots of action, with sprinkle of romance.

All For the Game Series by Nora Sakavic

Book 1:

Neil Josten is the newest addition to the Palmetto State University Exy team. He’s short, he’s fast, he’s got a ton of potential—and he’s the runaway son of the murderous crime lord known as The Butcher.

Signing a contract with the PSU Foxes is the last thing a guy like Neil should do. The team is high profile and he doesn’t need sports crews broadcasting pictures of his face around the nation. His lies will hold up only so long under this kind of scrutiny and the truth will get him killed.

But Neil’s not the only one with secrets on the team. One of Neil’s new teammates is a friend from his old life, and Neil can’t walk away from him a second time. Neil has survived the last eight years by running. Maybe he’s finally found someone and something worth fighting for.

Book 2:

Book 2 of All for the Game; The Raven King follows The Foxhole Court

The Foxes are a fractured mess, but their latest disaster might be the miracle they’ve always needed to come together as a team. The one person standing in their way is Andrew, and the only one who can break through his personal barriers is Neil.

Except Andrew doesn’t give up anything for free and Neil is terrible at trusting anyone but himself. The two don’t have much time to come to terms with their situation before outside forces start tearing them apart. Riko is intent on destroying Neil’s fragile new life, and the Foxes have just become collateral damage.

Neil’s days are numbered, but he’s learning the hard way to go down fighting for what he believes in, and Neil believes in Andrew even if Andrew won’t believe in himself.

Book 3:

Neil Josten is out of time. He knew when he came to PSU he wouldn’t survive the year, but with his death right around the corner he’s got more reasons than ever to live.

Befriending the Foxes was inadvisable. Kissing one is unthinkable. Neil should know better than to get involved with anyone this close to the end, but Andrew’s never been the easiest person to walk away from. If they both say it doesn’t mean anything, maybe Neil won’t regret losing it, but the one person Neil can’t lie to is himself.

He’s got promises to keep and a team to get to championships if he can just outrun Riko a little longer, but Riko’s not the only monster in Neil’s life. The truth might get them all killed—or be Neil’s one shot at getting out of this alive.

Mare's Review

How do you write a review for something so epic that words can’t describe the ride?
How do you write a review to reflect every single thing you felt while reading 1 of the most amazing series ever put out?
How do you write a review so that you can convey to the author and the world that you are absolutely speechless and blindsided for the love that you have for this series.

You just cant. I wouldn’t do this series justice. But I sure as fuck am gonna try.

Its YA/NA which sometimes can be a hard limit for me. But from the 1st sentence of book 1 I was hooked, line, and sinker.

That feeling that as soon as book 3 is done you’re jumping back into book 1. Yah. That feeling.

I love books for the words. It doesn’t matter what the story is about, rarely for me, what matters is the words. And Nora Sakavic had them in spades. She slayed me in short sentences and she slayed me in the long ones.
She pretty much just slayed me open. If she could have asked me “yes or no” my answer would have always been “Yes”.

I love books for words, but I also loved this series for the story. It had all my crutches in 1. All the crutches! And Jesus did that ever make me happy!!!!
Boys on Boys
And a good good seriously amazing mind fuck.

There are so many main MCs in this book, its hard to just love 1 or 2 or hate them all.
You felt their pain and you felt their joy. The ride, Jesus the ride!!! I loved it!!!!!!!

But my heart was claimed and owned by Andrew.

JFC. Andrew.

I don’t want to dissect everything today
I don’t mean to pick you apart you see
But I can’t help it
There I go jumping before the gunshot has gone off
Slap me with a splintered ruler
And it would knock me to the floor if I wasn’t there already
If only I could hunt the hunter

” Is your spine the spine of the righteous?” Andrew wondered. “Are you trying your best to step on my toes because you are feeling the tragic weight of the holier than thou?”

And all I really want is some patience
A way to calm the angry voice
And all I really want is deliverance
Do I wear you out
You must wonder why I’m so relentless and all strung out
I’m consumed by the chill of solitary
I’m like Estella
I like to reel it in and then spit it out
I’m frustrated by your apathy
And I am frightened by the corrupted ways of this land
If only I could meet the Maker

“I hate you.” Andrew said casually. He took a last long drag from his cigarette and flicked it off the roof. “You were supposed to be a side effect of the drugs.”

What I wouldn’t give to find a soulmate
Someone else to catch this drift
And what I wouldn’t give to meet a kindred
Enough about me, let’s talk about you for a minute
Enough about you, let’s talk about life for a while
The conflicts, the craziness and the sound of pretenses
Falling all around…all around
Why are you so petrified of silence
Here can you handle this?

Stay,” Andrew said, and leaned down to kiss him. Time was nothing. Seconds were days, were years, were the breaths that caught between their mouths and the bite of Neil’s fingernails against his palms, the scrape of teeth against his lower lip and the warm slide of a tongue against his.”

This ride will stay with me for a long time. I love feeling that epicness.
I hate losing it

I cant wait for Nora Sakavic to write more WORDS! I cannot freaking WAIT.

I’m so glad these were made into Paperbacks. I hug them… regularly.

I have also re-read this series a billion times and I wont stop rereading them because they are everything.

Mare's Review

You know those books that you want to end but you never want to end?
Last Seen Leaving.

The mystery was good. So good. And I love that I knew knew knew who who who.
And that I knew knew knew that tricky part at the end. I knew.
Happy dance you guys. I love when I figure out a good mystery well in advance. I feel super smart 🙂

Anyways I tweeted yesterday that all my Adrien with E lovers should read this book because Flynn was hands down Adrien @ 15 except without the heart issues.

I loved Flynn. I wanted to wrap him in my arms and just rock him. He reminded me of my kid in lots of ways. And it was rather endearing to this mama Bear.

January…. I swear I liked her less the more the book went on.
Ohhhhh those tangled webs we weave when 1st we practice to deceive……..
But in the end, I was happy for her….. maybe happy is too strong a word…. but I was resolved with the end. Except you know I’d like a follow up story ok.
Like say 10 years down the road.. that would be really really nice.

And I love any character with the name Kaz. Its like I have to love them just for that name alone 🙂

Also, the writing was lush.
The author really can weave a story. I love books for the way words flow together and these flowed so lovely you guys. It was like lyrical music for my soul.

Thank you Netgalley and Delacorte Press for a copy of this e-arc

3.5 stars

Let me start off by saying I believe everyone who uses social media should read this book.
It will open your eyes on how easily you can be found on the internet.
Doxxing, Personal life, RL vs Social life.
And if you are a parent with kids in the millennial era this is def something you should read.

I liked the story, I did. BUT……

I didnt really feel a connection to any of the characters to be honest.
But then again i think most females are catty doesn’t matter what age you are. So there’s that. Catty girls. UGH.
And then I think OMG my daughter is starting high school next year and I wonder how I’m going to survive it.
Cause i will tell you now I will want to cut a b*tch for treating her in any sort of catty way…
But I’m deviating from the story.

Girls, jocks, nerds….. you will find it all here.
Doxxing, public shaming, secrets revealed, public outing, STDs, anything and everything will be found in the pages of this book.
