★★★★★★★★★★ Fantastic Stars!
The continuation of Carmine and Haven’s story, Carmine now deeply involved in the dangerous mafia-run crime ring after swearing his loyalty to save Haven… the consequences…. and the choices that have to be made. I loved every twist and turn of this story…
Reading Carmine’s POV… his transition to the mafia life wasn’t easy, keeping Haven away from it all, and losing himself along the way.. was heartbreaking.

Then there’s Haven’s POV. Living a life of freedom she never had… learning about the outside world and fulfilling her dreams.

Vincent and Corrado’s POV was really interesting! I liked and hated them both… but what they both did in the end was an amazing surprise.

It also unravels a lot of secrets, secrets of Haven’s past and the person behind the murder of Carmine’s mom.

The perfect ending for their story, the epilogue was beautiful!

It’s heartbreaking, gut-wrenching, thrilling, action-packed, gripping and just perfect!

Did not disappoint, definitely worth the wait! One of my top favourites this year.

She lives in a tiny town in rural North Carolina, where she churns out more words than will ever see the light of day. She has a deep passion for politics and speaking out against human trafficking, and when she isn’t writing (or fangirling about books) she’s usually ranting about those things.

Chronic crimper with a vulgar mouth, she admits to having a Twitter addiction. You can usually always find her there.

Carmine sat in his usual chair in the library, casually strumming his guitar. A sliver of light filtered in from the large window, illuminating his somber expression in the darkness. She called his name but he remained still, continuing to pluck at the strings almost as if he hadn’t heard her. She took a step toward him and was about to say his name again when he let out a long, deep sigh. “I had a dream.” “Another nightmare?” she asked, walking over to him. He glanced up at her as his fingers stilled, the music stopping, but Haven barely noticed. She couldn’t focus on anything but the green eyes boring into her. Once so alive with passion, she saw nothing but deep sadness marring the bright color. Carmine set the guitar aside and moved his legs to make room, motioning for her to join him. She climbed into his lap and he wrapped his arms around her. “Not a nightmare this time,” he said. “It was a good dream.” “What was it about?” “You,” he said quietly. “You made a painting—some abstract shit, I don’t know—but it was so good they hung it in a museum and raved about how talented you were. It was like you were the next fucking Picasso, tesoro.” She laughed. “I don’t even know how to paint, Carmine.” “You could learn,” he said. “Would you want to?” “Maybe, but I don’t know how good I’d be.” “Oh, you’d be good,” he said confidently. “You shouldn’t doubt yourself. You can do anything you set your mind to.” “Except for play the piano,” she said playfully. “Or the guitar.” He chuckled. “Yeah, for the sake of everyone’s ears, we ought to leave music to me, but the rest is all you. You can probably do all of that, you know. Draw, paint, sculpt shit into weird shapes and tell people it’s something it doesn’t look anything like. That takes talent.” She smiled. “And you think I have that kind of talent?” “Of course,” he said. “There’s gonna be no stopping you once you get started.” “Thank you,” she whispered, a swell of emotion surging through her at his words. “It means a lot that you believe in me.” “I’d be an idiot not to,” he said, kissing the top of her head.

I’m supposed to share interesting details about myself so that my readers get to know me so here we go in no particular order: I’m an natural redhead even though I haven’t seen my real hair color in years, I’m a big fan of tattoos and have a half sleeve on either arm and various other pieces all over the place, I’ve been in the bar industry since I was in college and it has always offered interesting insight into how men and women interact with each other, I have 3 dogs that are all crazy, I live in Colorado and love the snow, I love music and in all reality wish I could be a rock star not a writer or a bartender but I have zero talent so there is that.

I love to write, love to read and all I’m interested in is a good story with interesting characters that make the reader feel something.

Broken Truth by Beth Ashworth BLOG TOUR

Life for Charlotte (Charlie) Harris couldn’t be any better at this moment in time. She has her dream job, she has the extremely wealthy knight in shining armour and she has the best friends a girl could ever ask for. On paper, the beautiful world unfolding at her feet almost appears too good to be true for a working class girl from Manchester right?

But what happens when you gloss over the statistics and realise that the happy bubble you have been living in for the past fifteen months has all been a twisted, torturous path of lies? What if you realised that the person you loved wasn’t who they claimed to be any longer?

With the once sacred and happy memories now turned into hatred and despair, Charlie must now follow her instincts to either forget her past and move on or force the hand that holds the cards to her life to reshuffle the deck before it leads onto the twisted future that lies in store.

What will she choose?

Can she forgive and forget for the only man her heart has ever loved?

(Please note that this book contains strong language and graphic scenes of a sexual nature which are intended for a more mature audience.)

“Careful,” Callum said as he closed the space between them and placed his hands on her shoulders to steady her balance. He flicked his eyes up and down the length of her naked body, lingering unashamedly at the soft swells of her breasts. “I missed you,” he murmured huskily. Even standing underneath the hot water of the shower, Charlie couldn’t help the way her nipples began to harden. She was unable to control the reactions of her body around Callum, so she had just learnt to embrace it. “Your fucking tits are amazing,” Callum groaned as he stroked his hands down from her shoulders to cup her breasts. He squeezed them firmly in his hands before brushing the tips of his thumbs over her rosy, hardened peaks. Closing her eyes, Charlie bit down on her lower lip. “You like that?” he breathed as he continued to tease and knead her breasts. Removing one hand from her chest, Callum firmly gripped the nape of Charlie’s neck and lowered his lips down to hers in one smooth movement. She closed her eyes and moaned softly as he sucked and nipped at her bottom lip. The hot spray from the shower continuously pounded onto her skin, leaving her body feeling extremely sensitive. She gasped as a slight tremor ran the length of her body, which Callum used to slip his tongue inside of her mouth. Meeting his tongue stroke for stroke, Charlie found her hands tracing across the well defined muscles of Callum’s stomach. Her fingertips dipped into each ridged groove before her hand found the small trail of hair that headed south. Brushing her fingers gently over the line of light and fluffy hair from his navel, she slowly crept further down until she reached his warm and pulsing shaft.

~*~*~*~DREAM CAST~*~*~*~

~*~*~*~OUR REVIEW~*~*~*~

RATING : ★★★★✩

This book is really romantic, it’s light and it has just the angst to keep me at the edge of my seat.

Charlotte a.k.a. Charlie’s life is perfect, she has her dream job…  a dreamy, rich and near-perfect boyfriend for  16 months…. and she has the most amazing best friends.

But what if your perfect boyfriend, the one you loved so much, is not so perfect after all?

The story has a shocker factor and my heart broke for Charlie.

I was ready to give up on the book towards the 30% mark but I decided to keep going, not because it was bad, on the contrary this book is well written however I felt it was dragging a bit. I am so glad I decided to keep going though, towards the half way mark I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN!! I very much enjoyed the angst and the fact that you did not know what will happen next….

I did feel bad for Charlie but really the girl was in denial, she should have seen the signs!! I should have been angry with Callum but I couldn’t be, he was my favorite and all the time I was reading, I was rooting for him!

This is a sweet book with the right amount of angst, romance and twists, not to forget it is a Standalone!

“What do you choose?”

“Us,” she finally whispered. “I choose us, Callum.”

“Our future was on course for a path of twisted destruction, Callum. But we changed it. We chased the darkness away and we won,”

Lots of action and emotions for a short read, I loved it! I love all the characters in the book except of course for the villains. And that epilogue in the end? Perfect! 🌹The end was so sweet, felt just right!

Lost: one dog and two men in need of each other. Found: love.

RV resort security chief Ringo never believed in love at first sight . . . until he saw Gavin playing his sax

on the beach for the tourists. But their on-again, off-again affair—even counting all the great makeup

sex—doesn’t come close to the relationship he wants. All he really wants for Christmas is a commitment

from Gavin.

Instead he discovers that Gavin has had surgery without telling him, so he lays down a relationship

ultimatum while Gavin recuperates. Complicating matters even more, Gavin’s beloved dog Bird runs

away, and Gavin blames Ringo for the disappearance.

While Ringo throws every resource he has into finding Bird, he learns deeper truths about Gavin—how

hard it is for him to trust and how little faith he has in love. Maybe if Ringo can find Bird, he can salvage

Z. A. Maxfield started writing in 2007 on a dare from her children and never looked back. Pathologically

disorganized, and perennially optimistic, she writes as much as she can, reads as much as she dares,

and enjoys her time with family and friends. Three things reverberate throughout all her stories:

Unconditional love, redemption, and the belief that miracles happen when we least expect them.

If anyone asks her how a wife and mother of four can find time for a writing career, she’ll answer,

“It’s amazing what you can accomplish if you give up housework.”

Mare’s Review:

3 I wanna learn how to play a Sax stars

This story was a light quick read for me. I probably read it within a few hours.

There were parts of the story that I enjoyed and parts that made me say Huh.

Ringo and Gavin, 2 men.

Both in love.

One broken

The other trying to fix it

Throughout the story we learn alot about Ringo~ it’s all in his POV~ so we get his thoughts, his feelings, his moods

He’s sweet, sweet on Gavin and trying to hold on to a broken ship that he is hoping will bring him back to shore

Gavin is an enigma, he still is to me. I wish I could have walked through his brain more. I wish that I knew his thoughts and perspectives on things

All I truly came to know was why he loved playing the Sax so much

And that he totally loved music.

I hope that ZA Maxfield will continue their story cause I NEED to know why Gavin was so broken

The sex was 5 stars, the 2 of them together, the heat, beautiful

~*~*~*~ABOUT THE AUTHOR~*~*~*~

As far back as I can remember, I have loved books. I love reading them and I have finally admitted to myself that I love to write them. Miss Taken is my debut novel as an Indie Writer of Adult Romance. It’s the first book in the series. My career before writing started in apothecary pharmacy. Working alongside the pharmacist, I enjoyed being around the customers and assisted in making compounded skincare products. Once the pharmacy was sadly sold, I worked as a make-up artist for brands such as Princess Marcella Borghese, Bobbi Brown and MAC Cosmetics. Being around different people and the work I did was never boring, yet something was always missing. Although I am still working, I decided it was time to make writing more than just a dream but a reality. Then finally one day after Hurricane Sandy hit the shores of NJ, I read an interview about longtime friend and fellow author Joseph Grant. It really hit home for me. So after talking with Joe and my mom, I jumped into the world of writing and recently self-published Miss Taken, so my works would be more than for “my eyes only.” Since the day I started to write Rain and Dominick’s story, I have never looked back, nor have I regretted one single moment of it. When I write, much of the time the story plays in my head as a movie and sometimes even includes background music, we can all use a little background music. I try to add elements of things I love and share them with the readers. I will continue to create characters and stories that you can laugh, cry, love, hate and even become slightly crazy about. Let’s face it, we can all use some crazy to escape real life. Xoxo

~*~*~*~REVIEW BY OUR OWN Casperfitz~*~*~*~

3.5 roller coaster stars!!!!

Rain and Raven Medici are identical twins but are completely opposite in character. While Raven was exposed to the outside world, Rain wasn’t, she was born with a blood disorder and denied many normal childhood experiences. Growing up, Raven became a lawyer working with her father on her father’s firm, Kane & Medici, and Rain with her childhood friend Tommy Conte, built a very successful business as professional photographers.

Dominic is blinded by his need for revenge. He wants his father’s share of Kane & Medici and to destroy it! He sent his men to kidnap Raven, but instead they kidnapped Rain.

I loved the start of these two characters, the chemistry between them was GREAT, enjoyed reading their banter, fights and sweet scenes even when both them drove me mad . Dominic is a very complicated person and Rain started the book off holding her own against him. However somehow along the way, both characters just got irritating; Their on again and off again relationship was giving me whiplash! Rain is so freaking naive, her relationship with Tommy is sweet and all but omg, I don’t blame Dominic in getting jealous. And don’t get me started about Dominic… oi!!!! I could see how much he loved Rain but boy was he frustrating….

I enjoyed this book, really did… Loved the storyline. It got me hooked from the start. It’s hot and angsty… I think Rain and Dominic are the perfect pair. Hope they work through their problems in the second book, I am looking forward to seeing their characters grow and continuing the journey with them towards their HEA.

The book is a cliffy and let me tell you I CANNOT WAIT for the second one, I am stalking the author daily!

ARC provided by author for an honest review…. Thank you.

“Baby, what are you thinking about?” He asks. “I was just thinking how amazing it would be to spend the holidays here alone with you. Just the two of us.” He smiles against my hair. “That would be perfect, but do you want your family to kill me? I promised to get you home, at least in time for Christmas.”
“I know, but I really don’t want to leave.” “Don’t pout, Rain.” I rolled my eyes, but he didn’t see it. “I’ll make a deal with you. When the Christmas holiday is over we will fly right back here for New Years. Maybe we can even bring Anna and Joseph. What do you say?” I spin around and jump into his arms sending him off balance. “Thank you, Dominick. I would love that. I promise you won’t regret coming back here for the New Year.” He laughs at my enthusiasm. “The only thing I regret is not kidnapping you sooner.” “Why is that?” “Because the sooner I would have taken you the sooner you would have become mine.”
“Rain, I’m not letting you go.” He gages my reaction. “What do you mean you aren’t letting me go? You need to explain this now.” My face is getting hot and it’s not from the sun beating down on me. “Your father has something I want and I have something he loves. So I can’t let you go until I get my something back.” “Tell me what it is and I’ll get it for you.” “Impossible.”
“Nothing is impossible. What is it?” “It’s my father’s share of Kane and Medici.” He reveals, wiping his mouth, then placing the napkin down on his lap. “Don’t you own that already? Your father has been dead for over four years now. Isn’t all of that settled?” I didn’t understand. “When my father died, he left the business to your father. He gave me nothing. I’m his son. I should have gotten part of the firm. It’s rightfully mine.” His body is tense. “I had no idea your dad left the business to my dad. I usually don’t get involved with that stuff. When my mom died, she left Raven and me her share. The money from her part of the business gets deposited in an account every month. Other than that I don’t get anything from the business.” “What about your mom, Elise? Isn’t that her name? I know she and Mr. Kane were married. I just didn’t know they had you as a son. Did she get anything?” “Only money and other assets. Which she left to me when she passed away. He didn’t give her the business either. So you see I want what’s mine and if I don’t get it I will take what’s his.” “I’m not a possession of my dad’s. I’m his daughter. You can’t own me or trade me for it.” “Rain, I’m not going to keep you locked away forever. I’m going to make you mine.” His voice became dark and heated. My insides clinch and I become very warm. “How are you going to do that?” My voice became very small. “Your father doesn’t like me. He never has. So when I seduce you and you’re with me, he’ll do anything to get you back. Including giving me my father’s share of the law firm.” “There’s just one problem that you didn’t count on.” “Which is?”
“Me. I won’t be seduced by you, Dominick.” “It’s not your choice, Rain. It’s what I intend to do. Listen, Rain, you’re very smart girl. You have to agree with my plan. You said it yourself, your father will never let you have a life when he finds out I took you. He will cut you off from Tommy and everything else you love to do. You’ll have nothing.” “LISTEN YOU PIECE OF SHIT!” I whipped around and I’m up in Dominick’s face. “My parents took very good care of me. There were no locks and no guards like there is here with you. I always honored their wishes. No, it definitely wasn’t easy, but after my mom passed away my father realized that I didn’t need that type of protection. I wasn’t getting sick any more. Well, up until you took me that is.” “That maybe be true, but now he’ll put his entire focus on you and he’ll realize that because I was able to get to you there should be locked doors and guards to keep you safe.” His voice is menacing. Looking down at my hands, the shaking begins. All of the isolation as a child, the lack of control, and the events of the past few days come flooding in. My tears begin to fall. Dominick looks at me softly, but still with hunger and greed in his eyes. His hand comes over mine, causing me to really look at him. “I can give you what you want, Rain. A good life, where you can travel, be safe, and never be alone. I can make you happy. I understand you, Rain.”

In one night my fairytale ended. Or it may have begun. This is my story of friendship and love, heartbreak and desire, and the strength to show weakness.

One night I met a girl. A sad and broken girl, but one more beautiful than any other. She laughed through her sadness, while I loved through her heartbreak.

*This is our story of a maybe ever after.*

He was right. It made no difference whether it was 6 months or 6 years.

I couldn’t undo what had been done. I couldn’t change the future.

I couldn’t even predict it.

It was one night.

One night when everything changed.

It was so much more than just the betrayal.

It was the Tragedy.

The Deaths.

The Murders.

But it was also that feeling.

The feeling of falling.

  • Excerpt 1

“He was going to meet you at the cages after he dropped us off. He was just there for me, that’s all.” I pause for a minute. “Wait, he didn’t tell you?”

Jake’s shaking his head, taking it all in. “He said it wasn’t his story to tell, and if I wanted to know I had to hear it from you.” He blows out a breath, puffing out his cheeks with the force of it. “Fuck, Kayla. I really am an asshole. I was a dick to him, and to you. And Julie, shit, I scared the shit out of her. Why didn’t you tell me? Was that what last night was about?”

“Yeah. I didn’t think about it until I was at the pharmacy with Julie, and then I wigged out, and I didn’t know what to do. I didn’t tell you, because I wanted to be sure first. I didn’t know what I was going to do if … you know.”

“So you’re not. For sure? Like a hundred percent?”

“Yeah, Jake.” I nod my head. “I’m sure.”

He breaths out a heavy sigh, and we sit in silence for a long time.

“Can I stay with you tonight? Please, Kayla?” It’s barely a whisper.

I scoot across the bed and lift the covers. He takes his shirt off and gets in. We face each other. Holding on, not wanting to let go, not even for a second.

We’re looking so intently into each other’s eyes, trying to see into each other’s souls.

Talking without speaking.

Feeling without touching.

“It’s just you. It’s only ever been just you. It will always only ever be just you.”

And then he kisses me. A quick kiss on the lips. But it has the passion of a thousand kisses, and holds the power of a thousand promises.

So much more than a lot,” he says, before we fall asleep, the best way we can, in each other’s arms.
