A heart so strong it will never slow.
There is a promise so sure it can never lie.
He promised me that love forever.
Even when it wasn’t enough.

Just the rising and falling of the sun.
And our own sense of forever.

But our forever isn’t always.

I see her wobble on her feet before she slowly tumbles to the ground. Her knees give out first, then the rest of her. It feels like I should’ve gotten to her earlier, but seconds of panic took place before my mind kicked into gear. And the rest is a blur.

Her friend’s standing over us while I rest her head on my lap. “Lucy,” I say. And it’s the first time I’ve said her name out loud. It’d been over three weeks since I’d learned it.

“What happened?” Logan asks her friend.

“I don’t know.” She’s as panicked as I am, if not worse.

“Is she dehydrated?” Logan picks up what looks like an uneaten sandwich. “Is this hers? Has she eaten?” I don’t know why it annoys me that Logan is asking all the right questions and all I can do is stare down at her. She’s breathing, so I guess that’s something.

He drops down on his knees on the other side of her and pours water from his bottle into his hand, and then he runs it across her forehead and into her hairline.

“Is she alright, mate?” Jake asks. He’s new and has a weird accent but Logan seems to think he’s cool so we keep him around.

Logan does the water thing again, and this time her eyes slowly flutter open.

And I release the breath I was holding.

“It’s okay,” Logan says to her, “you just passed out.”

He’s in her face now, and I want to punch him for being the first thing she sees when she comes to. I was here first; I was the one watching her when she fell.

It should have been me.

“I hate that guy,” Logan jerks his head toward Jake and a new kid.

“The new kid? Dylan?”

He nods. “He thinks he owns the school.”

“Really?” I glare over at them. “Apparently he kills it on the basketball court, but I dunno.” I shrug. “He hasn’t said two words to me. He seems quiet.”

“Those are the ones you have to worry about, Cam. The quiet broody assholes get all the girls. Better watch him around that new girl of yours.”

I play dumb. “What new girl?”

“Shut up, asshole. You don’t think I notice you watching her all the fucking time?”

I lift my chin. “I think if there’s an asshole in this entire school to watch out for, it’s you.”

He laughs and adjusts his cap. “You don’t need to worry about me. I’m not into stealing my friend’s girls.” He shoves his hand in his catcher’s glove and smacks my arm with it. “Say the word. Claim her. I promise to stay away and I’ll make sure she’s untouchable to everyone else.”

“I’m not an asshole and she isn’t property. I can’t own her.”

“If that’s what you want.” He raises an eyebrow. “She’s cute. In a couple years she’ll be hot. Guys will be all over her. I’m just trying to help out.”

I think about what he’s saying, and he makes a good point. Only he’s wrong—she’s hot now. “Fine. I claim her. She’s mine.”

His smirk is instant. “You can’t own someone, you pig. She isn’t property.”

I laugh. “Fuck you.”

Jake struts over to us. “Ya reckon that new kid Dylan can hang out with us this arvo? He seems like a top bloke.”

Logan’s gaze moves to me, confusion clear on his face. I shrug. He lets out a chuckle before gripping both of Jake’s shoulders and shaking him gently. He looks him right in the eye, speaking slowly and clearly. “I have no idea what the fuck you just said.”

Silvana's Review
A wonderfully woven tale of misunderstandings, passion and forgiveness.
Written in multiple POV, this story is not unique, the premise is not different but the author made sure to deliver a book that is unique and different with a plot that was well-developed; She had the ability to capture my attention with a stellar writing style, smooth flowing prose and characters I was able to connect with, I was hooked from the first page.

Dominic is a man with many issues brought on by a horrific childhood, Eden is a woman in debt. The moment Dominic sees Eden,  he is consumed by his desire to have her, all he could think of is owning her. Eden’s dire financial situation leads her to accept Dominic’s offer of marriage, thus setting up the events that make up this compelling novel; She naively thinks that with this union, she will find stability, a safety net and hopefully happiness. Boy is she wrong because all Dominic sees in her is a gold digging opportunist and he treats her as such for 4 miserable years.

Eden finally has enough and decides to flee, we see Dominic doing and using every means in his possession in order to find her. Their reunion is a wake up call for him, he starts to reassess his former beliefs where Eden is concerned, he begins to SEE her and in doing so, he sees the horrific mistakes he committed in their marriage.

I went in expecting to hate Dominic, but couldn’t. He was as the title suggests behaving like a monster but was he really one?  Dominic was  a mystery that I wanted to see unraveled.

She didn’t understand how someone could be such an open enigma. But that was exactly how Eden saw him. She’d formed an opinion of him long ago based on her experiences and she’d been content to believe in that opinion as true, until now. It was the mystery of him that piqued her unfailing curiosity and try as she might, she could not abandon the idea that there was much more to him than what he chose to display to her and the rest of the world.

I loved seeing Dominic do everything in his power to get Eden to forgive him and to be redeemed, I loved him full-stop.

“I want you to tell me how to make it better.” “How can you make it better when we’re already so broken? How can you make it better when I’m so afraid to let you in?” “Don’t…don’t give up on me,” he entreated. “I know I can be the man you deserve, Eden.”

Eden is a great heroine, she is a strong one. Enjoyed being in her head, felt her pain, pitied her indecision and admired her love for Dominic yet at the same time protecting herself and what’s really important. One person I took a strong dislike to was Jenna, Eden’s so-called best friend.

All I can add is that I will definitely reread Monster in the future. This is my first book by Francette Phal but certainly won’t be my last, in fact having read a sneak peek into her next novel, I’m already looking forward to it and to Carver.

The Unwanted Wife (Unwanted #1) by Natasha Anders Review

All Alessandro de Lucci wants from his wife is a son but after a year and a half of unhappiness and disillusionment, all Theresa de Lucci wants from her ice cold husband is a divorce. Unfortunate timing, since Theresa is about to discover that she’s finally pregnant and Alessandro is about to discover that he isn’t willing to lose Theresa.

Silvana's Review

5 Stars!!

I started this book and I didn’t think I would love it so much. I began reading and boy did the angst just hit full on. Theresa had to endure so much during her years of marriage to Sandro who wed her only for his own purposes and felt trapped by her and the marriage.

When we got introduced to Sandro, I wasn’t a big fan, I actually was hoping that Theresa would find someone else to have her HEA with because he was a complete asshole!

“I have no respect for you, Theresa… not even as the potential mother of my child because, quite frankly, you can’t even do that right.”

And Shithead of the year award goes to Sandro!

The author managed to convey Theresa’s anguish and desperation quite well, my feelings ranged from anger towards her naivety to respect and empathy for her plight. There is no worse feeling in the world than not being loved by the only people who should cherish and protect you.

I admired how she finally stood up for herself, my favorite quote has to be the one she says to Sandro at the beginning of the book!

“You have never been my husband. A husband loves, honours and cherishes! A husband is a lover and a champion… Look into the next room if you want to see what a real husband is, because you
are no such thing!”

As the book progresses, we learn why Sandro is the way he is, he also learns a few truths about his wife. I enjoyed the grovelling he does and loved reading as he tried his best to make up for his past mistakes where his wife is concerned!

The sex scenes were hot! Though I did roll my eyes as I do in all the books where the heroine just melts at the mere touch of the hero, no matter how much of an ass he was seconds before-  Hubby was asking if there is a formula out there so he can buy it!

I would definitely recommend this book, stellar writing, lots of angst, great character development and is high on steam. Looking forward to reading more books from Natasha Anders, definitely a talented author.

Broken Pieces by Riley Hart Review

Can three broken pieces make a whole?

Josiah Evans is the orphan who lost both his parents. He’s sweet, shy, and all heart. He wants nothing more than to be loved.

Mateo Sanchez is the son of a gang leader. He’s seen it all, and never hesitates to do what needs to be done, no matter what it is.

Tristan Croft is the wealthy attorney who clawed his way up from the bottom to rule his own world. He’ll never depend on anyone but himself again.

Three men who couldn’t be more different…and yet, as their lives intersect they find an uncommon balance that calms the storms inside each of them, and ignites fires hotter than they ever thought imaginable.

Told uniquely in three parts and spanning over ten years, BROKEN PIECES is a journey of healing for three fragmented souls, finding love in the unlikeliest of places—with each other.

   Silvana's Review

5+++++ Whole Stars for Broken Pieces

“How many a man has dated a new era in his life from the reading of a book?”

“Books, not which affords us a cowering enjoyment, but in which each thought is of unusual daring; such as an idle man cannot read, and a timid one would not be entertained by, which even make us dangerous to existing institutions—such I call good books”

Henry David Thoreau

I love a book that stays with me days after I have read it, that leaves me wanting more. There are many reasons why I read and this book has them all! There are hardly any light moments, still it was a pleasure to read,  loved the loyalty, strength and vulnerability displayed by our three protagonists. This is such an emotional read, stories within a story, stories about loyalty, sacrifice, surviving abuse and redemption. Josiah being the center and the heart of this amazing threesome, the glue that finally holds all their broken pieces together.

I am not too big on angst and this book has it in LOADS, yet I have to reiterate how much I loved reading every word. I enjoyed feeling every emotion they went through, also the fact it made me want to cry so MANY times.

Told in three parts, we start the book with young Mateo the son of a gang leader and Josiah an orphan as foster kids living together.  Afterwards they are forced to live on the streets where Mateo realizes the only way he can can save Josiah from a harsh life is by walking away!

Without letting himself look back, he walked away from Heaven and headed back toward Hell.

After Mateo leaves, Josiah lives half a life, an empty shell of a person. He cannot forget Teo and doesn’t try to. In comes Tristan who is just as broken, after a failed attempt on Tristan’s part to pick up Josiah, the two develop a friendship.  So many things happen after this to my favorite trio  and I am so happy we get another book. YAY!!

Looking forward to book 2 yet dreading it at the same time, all these scenarios play in my mind as to the direction the author can take and some of them are unpleasant, I need them to be happy and they need to be happy together!

I really really NEED book two!

~*~*~*~BUY LINKS~*~*~*~

This book is book one in a three part series, so not all matters are resolved at the end of the novel. It is also meant for ages 18+ due to yummy adult content ;)

Happily ever after doesn’t exist. Not just in the romantic sense, but in the sense that there will never be a point in life that will contain no more obstacles.

Josie Sommers is a nerdy twenty four year old, elementary school teacher who has always considered herself a strong person. But with the loss of a loved one and the return of someone she vowed to never see again, her strength starts to break.

When he betrayed her in the ultimate way, she never thought she would let him back into her life, let alone open herself up to falling back in love with him.
with resentment and the burden of her own dishonesty, Josie has to decide if forgiving and coming clean is worth the risk of losing him again. With so many hurdles, we know that Josie’s story is no fairytale.

That’s a promise.

“You are gorgeous, as always, Josie.” He turned me around and brought his lips to mine. He kissed me slowly, and I could feel myself getting heated. He grabbed my hand and pulled me towards the bed. I was a little embarrassed when he started undressing us, unable to believe that I agreed to do something so risqué. He position me in a particular way, and went back to his cameras to make sure his shot was right and to set up timers on them.

“Okay, don’t think about the cameras,” he said, coming back to me. He started sucking on my neck as his hands roamed my thighs, stomach, and then my chest. I tried to ignore the cameras and focused on his tongue and mouth on me.

He brought one of my breasts into his mouth and sucked on my hard nipple. His tongue always knew how to make my body feel good. Click. I moved my hands into his shaggy sandy blonde hair, and arched my back, needing more of him. Click. Seth aligned his chest with mine, and went back to assault my neck as I moved my hands to rub his shoulders and arms.  Click. His other hand that wasn’t fondling my breast, moved its way in between my legs, and rubbed me. I gasped at the feeling of increased pressure on my clit. Click.

His fingers really were magical. It didn’t take me long before both the pressure of his mouth on my neck and breasts and the rubbing of his fingers against me, made me come. Click.

“So sexy,” he whispered, before putting on the condom he had ready on the bed. His eyes were hooded with desire. He positioned himself in front of me and moved my long hair in a way that covered my breasts. Click. He eased inside of me gently, and then pulled back out fast. Click. He teased me like that for a while, as I whimpered with need. I decided to sit up and grab onto his back, nearly clawing him to finally give me what I needed. I started to raise my hips to his at a better rhythm, loving the small whimper that came out of his mouth.

“Life is all about CHOICES.”

Thank you for the advance reader copy of That’s A Promise, this is the 1st book of Ms.Victoria Klahr. I love to discover new authors and their works because they bring new excitement to the readers.

The story is about Josie Sommers who loves to read and study so she is like a nerdy heroine. She has a very strong personality and a little hot tempered a good friend and a daughter. Seems life for her is perfect, but destiny has a different plan for her. With the loss of a loved one and the return of someone she vowed to never see again, her strength starts to break…
The story tackles a very sensitive subject that most women experience nowadays, the scar that it will leave is not just on the outside but on the inside, it will crush you and your soul. But Josie is strong enough to surpass the obstacle with the help of her parents, her best friend Seth, and the love of her life, Blake.

Blake for me is the good guy, easily to fall in love with but I love Seth more he is mysterious, much appealing persona, tough on the outside soft in the inside. And on the other hand you will love and hate Josie’s character because of the choices she made, but it makes her more human because the emotions are raw and authentic.

The story is well written, just some typo errors on the names. The challenge for me is the past and present scenarios I’m not really a fan of it. Maybe it would be better if the story is narrated from the past going to the present instead of bouncing back and forth so the story will flow smoothly. And it is very predictable I knew from the start what Blake’s secret hold is. But I enjoy reading the story; it shows the reality of life. The essence of loving someone and the importance of acceptance. Sometimes the choices that we made will ruin or save us. And real life situation is not a fairytale.

I’m TEAM SETH by the way if you are curious why, add this to your TBR list (^o^)
Congrats on your 1st book! Kudos!
