Lost: one dog and two men in need of each other. Found: love.

RV resort security chief Ringo never believed in love at first sight . . . until he saw Gavin playing his sax

on the beach for the tourists. But their on-again, off-again affair—even counting all the great makeup

sex—doesn’t come close to the relationship he wants. All he really wants for Christmas is a commitment

from Gavin.

Instead he discovers that Gavin has had surgery without telling him, so he lays down a relationship

ultimatum while Gavin recuperates. Complicating matters even more, Gavin’s beloved dog Bird runs

away, and Gavin blames Ringo for the disappearance.

While Ringo throws every resource he has into finding Bird, he learns deeper truths about Gavin—how

hard it is for him to trust and how little faith he has in love. Maybe if Ringo can find Bird, he can salvage

Gavin’s faith. Maybe this Christmas, they can all find each other.

~About the Author~

unnamed (3)

Z. A. Maxfield started writing in 2007 on a dare from her children and never looked back. Pathologically

disorganized, and perennially optimistic, she writes as much as she can, reads as much as she dares,

and enjoys her time with family and friends. Three things reverberate throughout all her stories:

Unconditional love, redemption, and the belief that miracles happen when we least expect them.

If anyone asks her how a wife and mother of four can find time for a writing career, she’ll answer,

“It’s amazing what you can accomplish if you give up housework.”

Mare’s Review:

3 I wanna learn how to play a Sax stars

This story was a light quick read for me. I probably read it within a few hours.

There were parts of the story that I enjoyed and parts that made me say Huh.

Ringo and Gavin, 2 men.

Both in love.

One broken

The other trying to fix it

Throughout the story we learn alot about Ringo~ it’s all in his POV~ so we get his thoughts, his feelings, his moods

He’s sweet, sweet on Gavin and trying to hold on to a broken ship that he is hoping will bring him back to shore

Gavin is an enigma, he still is to me. I wish I could have walked through his brain more. I wish that I knew his thoughts and perspectives on things

All I truly came to know was why he loved playing the Sax so much

And that he totally loved music.

I hope that ZA Maxfield will continue their story cause I NEED to know why Gavin was so broken

The sex was 5 stars, the 2 of them together, the heat, beautiful

Afterburn (Afterburn & Aftershock) by Sylvia Day

#1 New York Times bestselling author Sylvia Day, America’s premier author of provocative fiction, delivers the debut novel from Cosmo Red-Hot Reads from Harlequin.

The realization that Jax still affected me so strongly was a jagged pill to swallow. He’d only been part of my life for five short weeks two years ago. But now he was back. Walking into a deal I’d worked hard to close. And God, he was magnificent. His eyes were a brown so dark they were nearly black. Thickly lashed, they were relentless in their intensity. Had I really thought they were soft and warm? There was nothing soft about Jackson Rutledge. He was a hard and jaded man, cut from a ruthless cloth.

In that moment I understood how badly I wanted to unravel the mystery of Jax. Bad enough that I didn’t mind how much it was going to cost me..

Silvana's Review

There was no doubt when I saw that the creator of the one and only Gideon Cross has a new book coming out, that I will be reading as soon as it comes out!

We have the story of Gia and Jax told in a  Two e-novella installments. Gia never really got over Jax whom she knew in college, loved deeply but was heartbroken by. We meet her a few years after they depart ways and she is a stronger, more ambitious and  a different woman from the one Jax knew before.

I loved how Jax pursued Gia and the delicious little game they had going on, in business and in the bedroom. The reader can see that they are both still very much in love with each other!

Afterburn is continued in Aftershock coming out in November but does not end in a cliffhanger, I actually thought the ending was perfect- leaves you wanting to know what comes next without being left in despair.

I cannot wait to see what Gia has in store for Jax in Aftershock.

“I’m on to you, Jackson Rutledge.” My voice was low and hard, unwavering. “I’m going to figure you out.”

a very enjoyable read.

Silvana ❤
